Intent on doing both beer and wine in Marlborough- we made a pit stop here for some beer tastings. Usually per person, you get to try 6 of their now very much expanded range of products- our beer pourer was awesome and let us have two additional ones that were already open! Cheers.
We got their-
Blanc
Hoppykolsch
Southern alps
English ale
Breakfast
Belgian triple St Joseph's- told it was their most ordered beer
Noir &
Pig boy
A dynamic range of mouth-feels as well as interesting flavours that change from foretaste, in between to aftertaste as well as cool scents, pre-drink. You need to have your own go to figure out which ones appeal to your beer taste-buds!
Moa brewery oddly enough is found amongst the vineyards of Renwick and was also founded by the son of well known Marlborough winemaker. They make very good beers as a consequence- using some of their specialist wine-making techniques within the brewing process. Their talents for churning out handcrafted beers is evident by their impressive range of international awards seen beneath the bar for countless flavours of their premium beers and ciders.
We sat inside at the padded wall couch opposite the cool-mismatched 'man hunting' ornament taps and stools with cool cat and dog cushions. They have a few picnic tables outdoors and bathrooms in a corner behind some trees not too far from the main building. Didn't notice it but they also have BBQ facilities if that's your kind of jam. And of course their symbolic Moa just outside the main door for which they are named after.
Open seven days, until 5pm or later- this brewery is well worth a visit! read more
