Overall, a clean and safe environment option for daycare. Most of the teachers are sweet and caring... there were some teachers who lacked patience and some turnover (they were just fillers and didn't like teaching). The best part is that the children are learning a lot, in both English and Spanish which is a huge bonus! There is a set curriculum. I feel like my wife and I dodged a bad situation bringing our child here. The professionalism is extremely lacking. If they can't get something as simple as customer service and being professional in order why would I entrust them with my kid? At first we called the Downey location but they said there was a waitlist of 1 year but that the MLK location would have IMMEDIATE enrollment. We didn't mind joining the waitlist for Downey while still enrolling our child at the MLK location. Downey is on the way to where I work and though MLK is a bit out of the at but I would have made it work for the time being until Downey had a spot. Downey location sent me a PDF form that already had another family information all over it-clearly a violation of their privacy as now I had their name, address, child's name and other sensitive information. Emailed Helia back letting her know but received no response. I proceeded to try to call MLK; the phone would ring and ring and then it would disconnect as if someone was denying the call or picking up and hanging up. I then decided to use the texting service that they claim "responds in minutes." Yes, maybe the automated portion responds in minutes but as soon as a live agent takes over it's an extremely long wait. 4:15pm someone tells me to "hold on while I connect you with someone who can help..." 4:26pm I ask "how long should I wait?" 5:30pm didn't have anyone connected so I messaged back "hello." 7:15am the next day someone replies back without even acknowledging the wait. I didn't mention it until the information I received that there would be a waitlist for about 6 months at MLK. What happened to IMMEDIATE enrollment? Then they have the nerve to tell me that using the online chat is the quickest way to get a response, not calling or texting. Why do you have phone numbers listed and text services available if it's a terrible way to communicate with you? What if there's an emergency that I need to pick up my child? Yea, no thanks but this place is a hard pass. They might be affordable compared to other care centers but as the saying goes, "you get what you pay for." TLDR; There is a major disconnect between centers even though they claim to be affiliated. They have no regard for privacy since they blindly send out forms without checking if there is another families information on them. Their customer service is abysmal since they didn't pick up multiple phone calls and left me waiting for more than 12 hours on the text service or respond to emails. read more

Let me say; there is a very clear disconnect between the call center and actual facility. I was quoted $190 weekly and was told I could pay weekly. I show up for a tour and I'm told it's actually $993 for the month. It was more than what was quoted but I desperately needed childcare as my current sitter is retiring. So fine; I didn't even bring up the disconnect and agreed to enroll. I paid the $100 fee and then I was told everything wouldn't be due upfront. It could be paid separately. I was starting with a prorated rate since my child was starting next Monday (last week of may) So, $100 was due immediately and the balance of $245 I was going to pay on Friday (my payday) prior to her starting Monday. I "LOVED" how they then call me to let me know it would be $245 before she begins on Monday and then the ENTIRE month of June would be due on the 25th. She didn't mention this during the tour! So now it's we have to pay everything upfront? That's $1,238 I was not prepared to pay upfront. I have my savings but do I want to dip into that? No. I rather prepare accordingly & I just wish Liz would've mentioned this to me and my spouse at the tour, not after I already paid the enrollment fee. I even asked if everything had to be paid upfront and she said no, it could be split up. Had I known this sooner, I would've prepared accordingly. This place just seems too disorganized. They didn't mention the payments specifically upfront, they forgot to mention I had to come pick up another packet and even when they say they will call you back in an hour they forget and never call back. I've been sending my daughter here since she was 6 months old. I had a lot of pushback from family members questioning my decision to enroll her in daycare amidst the covid pandemic that was ongoing. I work at the hospital so I know that 1- I needed childcare and 2- the highest risk of exposure was me bringing home covid to my daughter. Also, we don't have family nearby to help out either, nor did we want to depend on or burden anyone. That being said, I was happy to have her enrolled right next door to where I work. She loved it from day 1! Having her enrolled here also helped with her nap schedule (we hadn't perfected that) and her eating/drinking habits. She learned early on to feed herself and now she will only eat on her own which is great for me and my husband! She is now 18 months old and has been going for a year- love is an understatement for how much she enjoys it here. The staff also love her and I can feel the genuine care they give to her. They welcome her with the same positive energy she walks in the door with. I already have my next kid (due in 2 weeks) on the wait list for their infant room. That says it all! My daughter attended here age 8 months to 2 years and it was an excellent environment for her. The teachers we experienced were so caring, they really do love the children and care for them as if they are their own. Very clean facility with nice outdoor space and many age appropriate activities. They always kept me updated with posts with photos throughout the day and if any incident at all, even minor fall or scratch they would call immediately. Also regularly scheduled parent calls with the lead teacher just to check in. I always felt confident dropping off my daughter, knowing she would receive the best of care. I only left because of change with my work schedule that made the commute too difficult... but even for many months I was making the hour round trip because of how well she thrived at MLK. I didn't want to send my baby to a home daycare so I looked for a facility. I had so many issues here it's not even funny. First problem they just let my baby sleep and didn't feed him the same food I sent him with was the same food they sent him home with. Had a conversation with them they said they would wake him up. Next issue a dumb parent got their child tested and continued to send them to school putting my son and my whole family at risk. Last straw was when the school reopened my mother picked him up (before I say anything this school makes you label everything you pack for your child with their name and what is in each container or bottle). With that being said they gave my son someone else sippy cup my son doesn't drink regular milk I don't know what was inside the sippy cup nothing. That was the finale straw for me. My child attended this KinderCare last year for a few months and it was NOT a good environment for him. At the time my child started he had just turned 3 and was used to being home so we enrolled him so he could get a school type of experience with other kids. The facility is nice and new but the staff is 50/50 ( some nice and some very careless) , the first issue was his FIRST DAY we picked him up , he literally had scratches all on the side of his face. He had to wear a mask and due to him being home up until then he wasn't used to it. Me and his dad were upset and considered not bringing him back but they told us he had done that to "himself" (even though he had no history of scratching himself that severely) so we tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and take him back. He got hurt again a couple weeks later so bad to the point we couldn't even take him back for a couple days. They claim he tripped and fell on a table. They knew he was a little behind due to him not having been in day care but they made him seem like the biggest hassle. I tried to work with them but unless your child is already "trained" they will not want to work with them. After 3 months, they essentially let us know it's be best to not bring him back even though we paid an EXTRA FEE for "summer activities" that he didn't get to enjoy. My sweet baby boy suffered while he was this facility for those few months and even when he was showing improvement they still thought he was an issue. My boy has been in public preschool since august of last year and HE IS THRIVING!!! Not only is it free but they provide both BREAKFAST AND LUNCH which he loves. He's had little to no issues at his preschool and he's pretty much caught up with his age group! He's so happy and loves going to school. This place is not for kids who are behind due to not being in school. It's overpriced and you HAVE to provide your own food which for picky eaters can be hard! Do yourself a favor and look into other options for your kids. You'll be happy for it later. read more

My two little ones were going to this child care for nearly 2 years. I had to return to work full time and after touring other facilities I felt the most comfortable with this facility. Also, the Director Rachel is very approachable. My littles ones leaned a lot while in the program. They were enrolled during the initial phase of the Pandemic and were always accommodating even with uncertain times. I can't say enough great things about my experience with MLK! I knew the moment I walked into MLK Jr that this is where I was going to send my daughter who was 3 months at the time. I checked into several other places and this is the one that stood out to me. It was obvious right away that staff loves and cares about the children. You can tell they are all passionate about their jobs and also made us feel welcomed the day we stepped in the door. I love they sent pictures and Daily reports each day. My husband and I are grateful and thankful to find such a wonderful daycare. I would highly recommend MLK JR. to anyone looking for quality child care. I honestly could go on and on about all the ways MLK Jr Childcare... but most importantly, I dont have to question what type of care my daughter getting. I know in my absence they are being loved, nurtured, comforted and allowed to grow, learn and explore in a warm and caring environment.... everyday. I will not take her anywhere else! My son has been going here since February 2018. He's loved all teachers he's had: Ms. Viridana, Ms. Angie, Ms. Elizabeth, Ms. Sandra and Ms. Eva. The director is super accommodating and always open to feedback. My son also has serious allergies and we've never had a problem with the teachers. This center is amazing to say the least. My daughter has been enrolled since she was five months and is now two years old. As a new mom making the decision for someone else to care for your child while at work is hard, but immediately I was at ease due to the staff efficiently caring for my child as she was theirs. All the staff are always energetic, friendly, helpful and attentive. I can not choose a favorite because they're all great. My daughter was also able to clearly articulate her self and identify colors, numbers and objects as early as 1 1/2 and this is because the center creates a learning environment. Pros: Hospital staff gets discount. Director always has a smile. Clean. Cons: Pricey. Small yard with limited to no toys. Parents must provide lunch. Not all the teachers are nice. I dropped my kids off one day and was told by Ms. Karen to take them to a different classroom. (Later told the teacher name is Latasha and she cares for the twos). When I entered the class she seemed to have an attitude so I asked her if it was okay that I leave them. She replied "what choice do I have". I was surprised by her response. I have been taking my son here for about a year now and I must say, I love this school so much. I know it may be a little pricey but considering how well they watch after my son and treat him, I'm not complaining. All his teachers he's had have become friends. This is not just a school where it's random faces. They take the time to get to know you and your child. I was so sad when he moved classes but they just keep proving how awesome all the teachers are. They teach them so much and it's all based on their age and what the kids are into. One thing I really like here is that while it's fun, they actually interact with the kids instead of having them in front of a screen, they let them be kids and play while learning at the same time. Also my favorite is knowing that my child is safe at all times, they will call us if anything happens and have safety drills often,so believe me our kids safety is their top priority. My son went in, not taking naps, not knowing how to socialize, being attached to the hip to me and not saying a word. Now he takes naps everyday, loves being a social butterfly and won't stop talking lol. I absolutely adore all the staff here. We love the teachers at MLK Jr Learning Center. Our children have been attending for nearly a year. The teachers are attentive and attuned to their needs. We see their progress socially and growth in vocabulary. We like that we get daily updates on what they eat, how long they nap along with pictures and videos from the day. After leaving the military my daughter needed new care in LA and I was kind of in an emergency child care situation since I started work near the area almost suddenly. They were able to enroll her instantly and started before my first day of work. Since the day my daughter joined they made her feel comfortable which was great because she was going through a lot of different changes. A week after her first day she was out the door before me ready to go to school to see her teachers and friends. They use an app to update potty, meals, activities, etc. which was great because I was able to have access to that information by the end of the day. Every month they send out calendars and what the focus will be so we can all be on the same page. I started working from home so it doesn't make sense to keep sending her but I would have definitely kept her here until she could start school because she loved the center and everyone who cared for her. read more

The service was very poor and bad. It was a lot of students in the classroom over capacity. One teacher that had more than 11 students in the classroom. My child was behind and they didn't tend to my child needs instead they complained and wanted my baby out of the school. These teachers have a lot of free time not teaching and don't watch the children. My child was bite more than once hurt more than once. They lack to watch the children and treat all the kids the same no matter of their disability. So they pulled my baby out and ask for my child to see a doctor so they hug can get the help needed. Stated my child need a smaller setting being that my child was behind in a lot of things. They weren't able to provide the services for my child so my baby was taking out. Teachers did no teaching let the kids run around all day. Meals aren't provided it makes it harder for some parents we don't get to cook often. With this big company they need to be on a meal program. Parents have to bring a meal everyday for full day working parents sometime it's a lot. But I wouldn't recommend your child to go here services was not met. I was very upset how everything turned out. Remember this is due to my child with disability being a little delayed so if your kid is delayed don't send your child here. read more

Everyone is great at this center! We started taking our daughter a few months before she turned 2 (which was a bit over a year ago) and they made her start at the daycare and then her transition to the 2-year-olds room as best as possible. After her 2nd birthday we noticed some delays in her speech and milestones, which were also brought to our attention by the teachers so we had our daughter evaluated and found that she was on the Autism spectrum (higher functioning). We are in constant communication with the teachers and staff, they work with us in areas she needs a little extra help with (noise sensitivity, socializing, etc.) and we feel that her attendance to this center has helped her so much these past few months. We are especially grateful for Ms. Angie who our daughter was lucky enough to have in the Toddler class and the Discovery Preschool class, our daughter loves her so much! She has gone above and beyond, she even helped with some of the observations needed for our daughter's evaluation which in turn helped her get the additional help she needs for her ASD. We are so thankful that we joined this center, it was the best decision we made. read more
