Burns Builders is currently converting my attic space. While working on this project, the team found a slow carbon monoxide leak from my water heater which was venting out of my chimney. They also discovered that my electrical fuse box was not properly grounded. They have been diligent in ensuring that my house is safe and in compliance with code. He asked for half down for materials for our small stamped concrete project in May of 2021, he kept putting off the project, I would reach out and not hear back for a week or more at a time. Always had more excuses. We are now over two months out from when we gave him money with no work started. We requested our money back and having to threaten legal action he finally responded and told us he would send a check. Well you guessed it, still haven't received that and don't plan to as he will not respond to any texts or calls. I have been in contact with a few others that he has treated the same. One person has waited over a year to have their work done and he keeps blowing them off with no refund. There are news articles and forum posts about this guy scamming people, unfortunately they weren't posted until after we 'hired' him. He has numerous past small claims cases against him in Clinton County, IL. Check the comments in all the reviews on Facebook for a news article. We will be reaching out to our local news station as well, hopefully it will prevent others from getting scammed by Shane.
