But Mum wanted make-up for her birthday - a very SPECIFIC make-up - and the younger sister does not drive, so I was sent off to House of Fraser. Entering, it looked very formidable. Lots and lots of stands, all selling different brands. I wandered, feeling rather intimidated, until I finally plucked up the courage to ask someone wear almost makeup was. They weren't sure, and a quick consult took place before she directed me towards the Clinique stall. The lady at the Clinique stall was nothing less than wonderful with my inept flailings. Different products were explained, and when all I could remember about shades was that a 3 and an 8 might have been involved, she patiently did a Well, is your mum's skin darker than yours? Darker than mine? until we had the right stuff. Thank you, Clinique lady, for being patient when you likely wanted to strangle me. I ended up with three make up items for £44. That would have been a price to whimper at, except they were doing an offer which meant I also got a huge bag of samples (really, HUGE) and some body lotion and hand stuff. That is, apparently, why the younger sister ordered me to go - they do do good free gifts. I can't say I'd go again for ME, because it looked far too girly a shop, but for gifts certainly, and the customer service in there was absolutely great.

It is technically outside but there is a cover over it and it is very warm once you get inside - but it can be a shock from the centre:MK. There are a number of cafes here also and a couple of places to eat all reasonably priced. It is a nice addition and if you are in the centre:MK is it worth walking that bit extra around here.

The staff have a regal feeling about them, they are ultra polite and helpful.It is nice to be served by someone over 30 for a change! Ann Harvey is a perfect store for bigger ladies or for the more mature lady and you really feel like the store understands their customer when you come here. There are often events held here with discounts and benefits available for loyal customers. The store is located in the middle of the MK centre and is on a busy avenue. It is a small to medium sized store but will order anything in.

This is a very fashionable shop but I think the reason I do not shop here as much anymore is because the items of clothing to me seem a little over priced for what it is you are buying. The shop is big in size with minimal clothing on the shop floor but that keeps the store clean and everything has its place. When I used to visit the store the sales assistants seemed unfriendly and more likely to be talking about you rather than helping you, I think this also put me off of the store as it wasn't a good atmosphere and you would want to get out as quickly as possible.

It's not the products, it's the attitude here, and the lack of consideration for anyone who is not walking along without any encumbrances. This store is laid out so badly in places that it's inaccessible to anyone in a wheelchair, or with a pushchair, and in some places it's so bad that if you even have a bag that you're carrying you'll have difficulties accessing things. The section by the main entrance isn't too bad, it's where all the concession stands are, and they're fairly easy to access and there's space around each one which is fine. It's when you go deeper into the store that the problem starts. The display units are shoved so closely together that it becomes impossible to get between half of them, and the staff here don't seem to care and aren't interested in helping either.

It's not all as bad as I first thought though, I mean yes they have millions of the same pairs of shoes but I must admit if you are on a tight budget and need a new pair of shoes this store will definitely do. The shoes are reasonable prices, they have up to date fashion and also stock plenty of different sizes. The shop is quite long in size but quite squashy as all the shelves are all close together. There are always plenty of people in this store looking for bargains so it is always pretty cramped. Good cheap shoes if you are on a budget.

They sell a wide range of sports clothes and other branded names for very cheap prices. Their ladies section is very small and quite pathetic really ,but it is worth a visit. The men's section is very big and if you're looking for named gear which is a bit cheaper the recommended retail price then this is the store to go. Jean do take some sorting through though as they tend to be folded rather than hung! Prking is narby and reasonably priced and the store is easy to get to.

Anyway whatever their plan is they do sell some reasonable priced clothing (the ones that are in the sale) for about £8 each you can buy comical T-shirts which my boyfriend loves, I think this is their main best selling items. The shop is a reasonable size and there is plenty of stock on the shop floor and they stock a good amount of clothing in different sizes. Pretty good to buy some cheap clothing.

Typically, the area outside of the shop is very busy. The window displays ar always brilliant in this store and make me want to go in. Inside I find it very stuffy and disorganised though. The space seems almost too small to fit all of the stock and consequently the clothing stands feel too close together. It is a squeeze to move around the store especially during busy periods. This means it is not a pleasant shopping experience here. The clothes here are often highly priced but have a lot of detail and a designer look about them. Next cater to trends and what they sell is always at the height of fashion. I find the staff here very helpful and polite. I do think that they have a difficult job running a store that seems to have more custom than it's size suggests it should have!

As well as 'fashion' they do stock a rather more basic line that comes in year after year - think basic tees, polos, etc. Price-wise they're mid-range. During sales they have some really good stuff. This particular store is always neat and well staffed. Change rooms are also a good size, meaning you can twirl and strut to your hearts desire without feeling watched!
