Brothers Travis and Erik take to the stage with feats of danger, like sword-swallowing, fire eating, laying on a bed of nails, and juggling flaming machetes. The third member of this group, Travis's "Pickled Wife," Susan, also eats fire and is part of a bullwhip routine. Not only do the Pickled Brothers put themselves in harm's way for their Cincinnati audience, but they've garnered a national following. The group has appeared on Animal Planet, The Tonight Show, CMT, MTV, and Guinness World Records. And yes, they currently hold three world records: 1.) Travis holds the record for stuffing the most Madagascar Hissing Cockroaches into a mouth at once. (Eleven of the insects filled his mouth, if you were curious.) 2.) Erik is the youngest person to juggle upside down for 5 minutes 3.) Travis hit the most targets with a bullwhip while swallowing a sword. Sword-swallowing and using a bullwhip at the same time? How are you not at a show yet?!? You can find the Pickled Brothers Sideshow performing at various events around the city. They are also available for hire for private shows.

The younger one could juggle like crazy! Swords, pins, hatchets, whatever! He could juggle it. I liked the audience interaction as well, they were very in tune to their audience. I didn't know these guys were so renowned, I can see how though. Great act!

We've interacted with the Ritz twice and had two wildly different experiences:…read more First we went to a group class on a Friday night and learned the cha-cha. Karen taught this class, and it was great! It was pretty clear that they get a lot of regulars each week, and we're both beginner-intermediate dancers, so we learned a lot from our fellow students. Karen was great about teaching all of us the steps, and we got a lot of new moves down. We enjoyed it a lot, and we looked forward to having the Ritz come out and DJ our wedding reception. Then we booked the Ritz to DJ our wedding. Our vision was to get more people on the dance floor and have a group lesson at the start of our dance time, and this was a major disappointment! When Karen got there she immediately told me that she was just told a couple days ago that she "had to" come to our event because her daughter Bree was not in town. No friendliness. She seemed put out to be there at our event. She taught our group class like I requested, but not without calling some couples a "train wreck"! Then during the event, she just sat at the table not even facing the dance floor, and she hardly looked up from her phone the whole time. And she refused to play some of our guests' song requests to boot! I don't believe in playing on your phone when you're at work. Certainly Karen knew that her behavior was unprofessional. The playlist was good though. Why did we tip her when she clearly was phoning it in on our special day!? What a disappointment. She was recommended by a friend, but we should have gone with someone who isn't as skilled as a dance instructor but could have at least brought a little bit of energy! Even several of our guests commented on how we had the most disaffected DJ anyone had seen. It was memorable! LOLOL

Enjoying this experience so much. Great instructors, and the group sessions are so much fun!read more

Had I just ordered my usual cheeseburger, Cajun fries and Diet Coke I would have been great. But...I decided to switch it up and order an appetizer as well. I ordered the pulled-pork nachos and added the elote corn. Everything looked amazing until I found chunks of fat in my food. Server was great and had them remade. Kitchen receives a 0/5 for this remake. The pork came back tasting old and twice cooked from his 'crisping up' and all the other toppings gone. The kitchen manager also added a comment about the cut of meat - mmmkay but your food shouldn't have chunks of fat no meat. The pork tasted so bad I didn't eat them. The server had already taken them off my check, so it's whatever. Do not recommend. My burger and fries were great and hot. They had 3 servers in the theatre, which should have made for an easy time getting what I needed. I only received 1 refill that I had to ask twice for. They really need to tighten up the training. They are all so nice! I definitely feel it's a training vs a server issue. The Star-Crossed Spritz needed to be a sweeter drink. The St Germaine gave it too much of an Old Fashioned spin and wasn't the fun girlie vibe it needed to be.

I had no idea that this place was so close to my Father in law's home…read more The only reason I know about Bobby Mackey's is Ghost Adventure's, so yea, I'm part of THAT crowd. My original thought was just to stop and grab a few pictures of the outside. I didn't REALLY need to go inside. (YES, YES I DID). I got there about an hour before the first tour started, so the Husbeast and I enjoyed a little country Karaoke as I walked around and took photos. It's exactly what a Honky Tonk looks like (And smells like: Liquor, Beer, Sweat and Cigarette smoke). There were a couple of regulars playing pool and a few others singing, The guys and gals line dancing to 'Footloose' made me grin. Mark was our tour guide and he is a Gem. He has the history of the place down to a good patter. It's sad about the recent-ish mudslide on the other side of the hill. The basement is a "special" place. Even if you don't believe in ghosts or demonic things, please surround yourself with white light and protection. I'm not saying it's related but I did end up with a huge bruise on my stomach and 2 days after I got home to FLA I ended up in the ER with Blood pressure Issues. Just sayin. It's not a place to fool around with. There've been too many folks who have done TOO MANY stupid things there without knowing what they're engaging with. My own personal experiences were: I saw a female shape to the right, when you're facing looking into the well room, it had a very victorian style silouhette. I felt a cold spot as we entered into the room of faces. There was something touching me in the jail cell, I felt, rather than heard voices in there. In the spot between the stairway to heaven, and the pit to hell, I felt a pain in my stomach. I ended up with a large bruise on my belly. May not be connected, but who knows. The husbeast, who's an absolute null, and skeptic, felt slightly dizzy in the jail cell, and saw "something" off the the left, near the mechanical bull in the basement. Would I come back? Yes. Probably even to drink and dance. It was a cool place.

And for anyone that's been living under a rock, it's all supposed to house an actually portal to Hell. Apparently this is located in the basement, off limits to customers. There are supposed to be other hot spots throughout the building for paranormal activity, including the men's bathroom, but I didn't experience anything out of the ordinary.
