When I became engaged to my husband, there was no question who I would ask to be our wedding photographer - I had seen her phenomenal work throughout the years and wouldn't trust my big day with anyone else. Julie did not disappoint. She even flew out to Washington DC to take our engagement pictures (on a weekend it reached 90+ degrees nonetheless) and captured some amazing shots. She really has a sense of the best angles to take with each setting and directs you in a way that still looks completely natural in the pictures. The pictures from our wedding were even more fabulous. We did a photo shoot at my parents' house, an urban shoot in downtown Detroit and Belle Isle, and of course more at the ceremony/reception venue. We have fantastic shots from each of the photo shoots, and had a terribly hard time choosing which to put in an album out of all the pictures we had (it literally took us over a year to select all the pictures!). All around, Julie's photos are gorgeous - I'm so glad we didn't look anywhere else for a wedding photographer! Not only are the pictures great, but she is wonderful to work with; very easy going, flexible, but also has some great suggestions based on her experience. She also does great portraits - we did a photo shoot of our dog (yes, we are THOSE kind of people) and I can't tell you how cute our baby looks (and I also can't tell you how Julie worked her magic and got her to stay still - every picture we have taken of her ourselves is a blurry mess!). They had warned us ahead of time that some of the things they asked us to do would seem weird, but would look cool after the fact, and they were right. Honestly, I had a really good time just chatting and hanging out with them in between shoots and whatnot, which is just an added bonus on top of the amazing job they did. Julie also took some photos of our dog. I wasn't so sure how well that would go: she's a fidgety little thing and unless she's sleeping, I've never got a photo of her that wasn't blurry. Unfortunately, all of them were booked. Thankfully, every single one recommended other photographers that they felt matched their style / they also liked. Jeffrey was recommended by a number of these other professionals and we immediately liked his website/style/no-nonsense FAQ. We reached out and he set up a zoom, where we met a kind, upfront guy that talked us through his agreement. We quickly agreed we wanted to use him and got him booked - and boy, he did not disappoint. Everyone raved about how pleasant and professional he was at our wedding. Sneak peak photos less than 24 hours later... and our full batch of wedding photos and gifs within a week? Incredible. His photos are fantastic - he quickly finds moods and creative locations to take shots at your venue and is willing to be guided or guide the couple through these different locations as desired. Olivia did not take any photos of our CEREMONY and provided many blurry/grainy photos. Olivia delivered our photos late, and gave us no communication, I actually had to reach out to her after the delivery date to see where they were and she didn't get back to me until a week later. Olivia has given us so many ridiculous excuses as well as changed her story/reasoning for things multiple times. Olivia has continued to provide awful communication, ignoring our emails for weeks at a time, on several different occasions. After months of trying to come to a resolution, Olivia has only offered us a $150 refund out of the $2,500 we paid her. All while claiming she did her job to the best of her ability. We will never have photos of the most important part of our wedding to share with friends and family. I am surprised at how many good reviews she has, the service we received has been so poor it seems almost impossible to believe other reviews. I have went back and forth on leaving this review, but if I am able to save just one couple from having to deal with this catastrophe it will be worth it.
