I also found out that they have announced their Annual Charity Beer Fest 2019. This is going to be a fantastic event which last for 4 days starting on Friday 24th May (Bank holiday weekend). They donate all the profits made from the fest to 2 worthy charities (In 2018 was over £6,000!). The dish that I decided on was a rack of lamb on mashed with a red onion gravy. The flavor of the dish was amazing, the lamb was perfectly cooked and the gravy was just the right balance of flavors to bring the entire meal together perfectly. It was a hearty meal on a cool night that hit the spot. I washed it down with a pint and walked away with only two regrets... 1. I can't find a way to get them to package and send the meal to me every now and then back in the states. 2. I wish I could have shared this with my entire family! Both the food and the service were amazing! The waitress had a great sense of humor and was very kind to us. Two of my coworkers had the pie of the day and I had the rack of lamb special. All the dishes were extremely flavorful and more than ample portions. The location is quaint and something out of a movie or a book with thatched roofs and a beautiful church and church yard nearby. We happened upon the White Hart by accident and were early enough in the evening to get a table without disruption as they were in fact booked out for the evening. The White Hart puts the gastro in gastropub, as you need gastrointestinal fortitude to handle to the obscene portion sizes. Yes, I went for my usual burger and chips which came with a side of chili. This burger came with cheese, bacon and onion rings and was fresh as a daisy. It was probably a full half pounder and I honestly thought I might pass out half way through but such was the taste, I soldiered on. The chips were chunky cut and lovely and the chili was excellent though was way too much for the plate. I managed to finish the burger and the chips but the chili had to go home with us in a doggy bag. It was still good when eaten as leftovers. The staff couldn't have been more friendly or accomodating. While I'm seldom ever in Godmanchester, if I can go back, I most certainly will.
