I stopped by today hoping to get some pansies. I was greeted as soon as I got out of the car. The lady walked me directly to the area I needed to be. I greatly appreciated her assistance as it's a huge nursery and I really didn't have time to wander around. After I told her I wanted to plant them in window boxes she suggested the trailing pansies. I didn't even know there was such a thing. She also suggested a deer repellent spray and explained how to use it to get the best results. I paid a little more than I may have paid at a big box store but over the years I've come to realize that you get what you pay for. These plants look great and fuller than I found elsewhere. We walked through the greenhouse and WOW!! You really have to drop by and see the poinsettias!! They offer over 80...yes over 80 different varieties of poinsettias. What a great gift this would be for a teacher, friend or family member to receive a unique variety they've never seen before. I thought they were very reasonably priced and the selection was amazing. My Garden Club has used Mitchell's Nursery for a number of years. Their plants are always so healthy. Our Customers look forward to our Geranium Sale each year. Mitchell's has been wonderful in delivery on time and helping us plan our Sale. If you want a real treat go there for the open house at Christmas. The poinsettias are fabulous. read more

Mitchell's is a go to for local, quality plants! They have everything you could ever want to plant or hang around your house. Another person posted about the high prices but this is not accurate. Yes, Mitchell's might be priced a little higher than Lowe's but the guarantee, experience and knowledge that you find at Mitchell's is well worth the extra quarter your going to pay! I buy from people I like and trust. I like These people. They where very friendly and where willing to listen to my landscape needs. I will return again this spring. With other nurseries it was like you are bothering them with questions. They have a large variety and the quality is really good. Went there knowing they have the best plants but to my dismay I was very disappointed! I did purchase some that I could find. Around $400 worth!!! 2 carts that I had to pull around and 4 big bags of soil. Do you think they would put in my truck for me? Nope I backed the truck up and they disappeared!!! I will never go back! They are over priced and lack customer support!!! The owners need to look into hiring not so lazy help!!! read more

They say nothing makes a house look old and tired as overgrown shrubbery. We researched online for recommendations for shrubbery that would be disease resistant, colorful, and would age in a compact lower maintenance profile. I found Mitchells' Nursery in a Google search and called them with my list. They had some of the shrubs we requested. They had suggestions for alternates when they didn't. They were very helpful. They cautioned me that an Indian Hawthorn I thought I wanted didn't do well with NCs afternoon showers and suggested another that honestly is so much nicer than what I had come up with. l picked up the shrubs yesterday and they are gorgeous. We won't have to wait a few years for the front of the house to have curb appeal. Thanks read more

Mitchell's just keeps getting better. It had been at least 8 or 9 years since I visited Mitchell's Nursery, but I was in King for the afternoon and decided to visit. I found a wide variety of annual and perennial flowers as well as shrubs of all kinds. The plants are healthy and beautiful, and the Mitchell's are very knowledgable about planting, fertilizing, and caring for the plants. I left with a flat of 15 quart-size potted perennials of various kinds - many of which I was unfamiliar. One of the plants they carry is the Princess Lily or Alstroemeria, a gorgeous flowering plant that very few nurseries in this area carry. Happy gardening! read more

I was looking for a Seiryu Japanese Maple in January, the dead of winter. Needless to say, no nursery local to my City has any in stock. Emailed Mitchell's and was answered within an hour. The tree is beautiful, even without leaves. The staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help. Was impressed with Judy who knew exactly how many of these trees they had available in their vast collection of trees and shrubs. Can't wait until Spring to visit again! read more

Would not buy anything else from this company. Be sure to ask the price before you load anything into your car. Otherwise they will assume you are willing to pay any price for it. You would be better off shopping somewhere like Lowes home improvement. There is nothing here about "shopping local" that is good for your wallet. Another thing. A lot of what you see has been purchased somewhere else. Nothing "home grown" about it. The price just gets marked up about 20%. I'm finding this to be the cases with a lot of mom and pop operations! read more
