They refused and then kicked the boys out because they didn't "fit in" with their "Christian" standards. I wish I was more vocal about this sooner and hope others don't go through this either. My daughter attended when she was two, about two years ago and this has always been at the back of my mind and heavy in my heart.

They are a little old school in communication, but they've been in business for over 50 years and there are parents with kids that used to be kids themselves at North Torrance Preschool. That's a really good sign. Ms. Sandy is awesome. She's caring, attentive and has been in charge of kids for a really long time. You can tell she genuinely likes kids. Our son started here when he turned 1, and while the transition to daycare was rough for him, he ultimately LOVED it. The caretakers are absolutely awesome. Shout out to Ms. Jasmine, Ms. Patricia, Ms. Paloma, and Ms. Francisca. They the real MVPs for doing the day-to-day. Again, you can never replace a parents' own care for their own kids, but North Torrance Preschool is a close second.

The first day of day care was very overwhelming, l dropped my son crying out of his lungs and I couldn't help but to feel very emotional questioning If I was doing the right thing. I thought that was very sweet from her because it showed that she cared and understood the situation for both; the child and the mother. Through the years it only got better! My son was being cared by a welcoming environment and warm staff that showed to be very dedicating to the children. I enjoyed that he was given a variety of developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor activities including singing, story telling, dramatic play and multi sensory fun. The Center also gives homework to the children so make sure to keep up otherwise you will hear it from Mrs. Belinda. She can be strict but that's because she cares and only wants the best interest for the child. My son (now 5 years old)has learned so much from this Center. He confidently knows his ABC's , sings in the car a lot of melody songs, knows the pledge of allegiance, colors, shapes, how to write his name, planets, he even knows his continents (are you kidding me) not to mention he also start learning addition and subtraction. I want to share my recent experience to help other families avoid going through the same situation…read more I specifically asked for financial assistance and grant information BEFORE even scheduling a daycare tour, because cost is a major factor for my family. The program director, Savi, told me that the information could not be provided until after paying a fee. After paying $125, I later learned from the funding agency that there is a waiting list over a year long, and we are currently #49. The agency also stated that providers are fully aware of these waitlists and should be disclosing this before collecting any fees. To make things worse, I was later told there was an assumption that I was already approved for assistance--which is completely untrue and contradicts the email chain. On April 9th, I was told we would need to be approved first before selecting a school, by the program director confirming we were starting the process from scratch. Because of the lack of transparency, my child still cannot attend daycare, and we were put in an unnecessary financial and childcare bind. Please, if you are a parent searching for childcare, make sure you: * Ask about funding, grant programs, and waitlists BEFORE paying any fees * Request all terms and information in writing * Verify timelines and eligibility directly with the funding agency * Confirm that the daycare is being fully transparent I'm sharing this so other families can be informed and avoid unnecessary stress during an already challenging process. Before daycare, our main care taker was my mother in law and my daughter was thriving. But due to…read morean upcoming trip, she would have to leave the country for a little over a month so it was time to find an alternate option for child care while my wife and I are working. Though relatively short notice, we had about 3 months to look at our options. As most parents do, we have asked around for recommendations from our friends and my own independent research. Unfortunately, all of those locations were either a capacity or were not accepting children until the following year. We were almost about to give up and just hire a temporary nanny to care for our daughter during work hours when we stumbled upon Little Stars Learn & Play Center. Curious, I called the number listed on yelp/google and the administrator, Ms. Asma, answered. We told her about our situation and that we were looking for a daycare to watch our then 22 month old daughter. She recommended we schedule a tour for just my wife and I to get a feel of the facilities and teachers. The building is very inconspicuous which you kind of hope for obvious reasons, the exterior clean and presentable. Upon entering inside, we were greeted by Ms Asma and introduced us to the facility. We immediately had a positive gut feeling and decided to schedule a day to drop our daughter off for a few hours to get her acclimated. There are two main rooms, one for toddlers (younger kids) and another for older kids (pre-school). We did this for about a week and decided to extend the stay out a few more hours 3 days a week. Ms Asma, Ms Tina and Ms Angel were awesome from the start, they were more than willing to work with our daughter who is very advanced for her age but has a lot of anxiety, particularly struggling with separation anxiety. They were patient with her and helped her transition smoothly to the day to day. Though she still has some anxiety during drop off, our daughter has fun all day and pick-up is night and day, almost no more tears! She eats better at school, plays nicely her friends (classmates) and comes home every day with a new word or phrase. We are eternally grateful for the teachers and staff at Little Stars and our own anxiety has also improved. Finding daycares is very stressful for both parents and kids, and it is a relief we found an awesome one!
