It has centuries of history behind it and Mt. Etna provides a gorgeous backdrop as you drive up to this mid-century baroque village. A dark beautiful Norman castle from the 12th century is nestled high up on the hill which is its famous landmark and can be seen for miles and you will see this as you drive towards the city center. You are immediately transported back in time to a place where the roads were built for horses and not for Fiat's once you park your car on the street and make your way towards the Spaghetti House. This is friendly quaint casual restaurant that sits on a popular main road in Motta. The downside on this night was that the dining room was too chilly for me and karoke music had started at 10 p.m. and it was loud. The menu is simple and ordering is easy since the owner speaks English. Typical pasta dishes and appetizers like bruschetta, pizza, antipasto, and Marsala style meat dishes are prepared here without being fussy. The spaghetti pormodoro was ordered for our kids and we ended up indulging ourselves because it was so tasty. The clam pasta was amazing too. We ordered the house red wine and again, it was served in a carafe carrying lots of flavor without being too bold or mild. The one thing I enjoy about Sicily is the simplicity of the ingredients that are full of flavor without being pretentious. That's what you find at Spaghetti House.

He raved about Spaghetti House and the owners and how friendly everyone was. We almost had our hopes dashed afraid it wasn't open. It was. We showed up in the rain, baby in tow and proceeded to chow down for about 2 and a half hours. I had the shrimp appetizer, he brought me 5 because I said I loved shrimp. I ate 3...I know horrible. We had pineapple and prosciutto, arugula salad and prosciutto, bruschetta, and we're thinking there was something else. There was so much food! The pasta was divine. We were all feeling like gluttons but I don't go to Italy often! Of course there was limoncello. We were so stuffed, it felt like Thanksgiving as a kid. Now here's the thing you have to park up a hill and walk down to the restaurant. This would have been fine had I not worn heels. Other than that the trip up and down the hill in the rain was worth every second of it. We ran into a family coming out as we were going in and they looked worse for wear, all doing the stuffed walk of shame. The spaghetti house is definitely one of my all time favorites. We are watching ticket prices and we might just pop back over there to spend a weekend at my brother's. How could I forget this? They gave us a bottle of Strawberry Champagne, that we still haven't opened. The BEST!!
