They wouldn't even get us water. The white people who came in 15 minutes after us were given waters on their table right away. When I asked the waiter if he would help us, he looked at me up and down and then turned to go take orders for the other tables, who again came in at least 15 minutes after we did. We are visiting Italy from the US; I do not recommend this establishment to any black person or anyone who does not condone racism, as they do not wish to serve blacks.

I ended up having a toasted ham and buffalo mozzarella panini which filled the spot, it was only €4 which I think is fine for the location and the quality of the food. It's a great place to burn a bit of time better trains if you are like me and have the 1122am train to Palermo which means I've had almost 2.5 hours to wait since I arrived on the Lipari ferry this morning. It also feels a lot more comfortable to wait for your train, the red chairs are more comfortable than the wooden benches in the main ticket hall and you have Italian MTV playing to keep you entertained. They have plenty of items for long train trips such as books for adults, books for kids, toys, snacks, kids packs and plenty of good takeaway food options. They even have fonzies which is the Italian version of twisties the essential Australian snack. They also have ice cream, chewing gum, candy, 2 meters of kinder chocolate, several beers, ice tea, water and the usual and local soft drinks. I would have to rate this as my best train station cafe for sure. There is also plenty of space between tables if you have a bunch of luggage which is always appreciated.

This place is a pretty large cafe filled with coffe, sweet treats, sandwiches, and of course plenty of different flavours of gelato. I ended up being simple (well, this time) and ended up getting 2 different types of chocolate inside of a waffle cone with a nice piece of wafer on top. What makes this gelato different from some of the other places? Well, Prestige actually puts marshmallow inside of the cone and on the top of it to give this gelato a little bit of an edge. The gelato itself was very good (not the best I've had in Italy, but still good) and it was even better when you got to the marshmallow part of the cone. This is a nice little cafe that's definitely worth hitting up if you want some gelato or a coffee. I can't comment on the other treats but they sure did look good. If I ever end up back in Messina, I'll be coming back to give them a try.
