It felt like Michael had no interest in helping me, no, it felt like I somehow disturbed him. He was jerking my hand around and aggressively putting things on his desk. The few words he said to me were short and crass. To top it all off, my nails look awful. They aren't even, the edges are rough, the color was not what I was hoping for - and I didn't feel comfortable asking for modification. I can't say that I would ever attempt to patronize this business again based on this experience. The lady did seem wonderful with her clients, so if you can get her instead, maybe that's a better experience.

A Yelp search brought up Belleza Salon at the top with good reviews, so I booked an appointment. Everyone was friendly and welcoming, and the cut and color turned out fine. Not the best I've ever had, but perfectly okay. Then came the shock: $160! For comparison, I used to get my cut and color done in Arcadia, one of the nicer areas of Phoenix, and never paid more than $120, often for noticeably better results. I would have happily given 5 stars if the price matched the value, but $160 feels steep for a small town in southwest New Mexico. We moved here partly because the cost of living is lower than in Phoenix. Turns out that's true for most things, just not at Belleza Salon. 3 stars. Friendly staff, decent work, but priced well above what the experience delivers.

The girl said she could that cut and seemed confident which made me comfortable. I told her I did not want my hair above my shoulders which she said she wouldn't go that short. Well, I ended up with an uneven Bob cut above my shoulders! I will admit that she asked if I'm sure I wanted to cut my long hair before she started to chopped away but I was assuming she knew what she was doing and that it wouldn't be as short and uneven as it turned out.
