Within the monastery, it is located in a building basement next to a water mill, which is used for power. There is a limited menu of items that the bakery produces. They make a few different types of bread rolls, which are laid out on trays. Bread prices are reasonable, though you will pay a bit more than what you would pay at a grocery. If you come here, make sure to bring a paper or storage bag. I bought a couple of rolls, but was not given anything to carry them. As a result, I placed them inside a napkin and put it in the pocket of my jacket to take away.

There usually is a line out the door and they take only cash. The line does go fast though. No card as well as no pictures.

The apple streudel was my favorite; it was like eating a handheld apple pie of happiness. The cheese Danish was also good, with a refreshing lemon flavor. My least favorite was the Nutella croissant as it seemed like someone just quickly slapped some Nutella on an old croissant; it did not taste fresh (1 star off). Not much English is spoken here, so don't be afraid to point at and purchase some items that you may not completely know. You may be rewarded by your curiosity!
This is a quaint traditional patisserie/cafe located near Getreidegasse, which is Salzburg's famous…read moreshopping street. Though the address says it is on Getreidegasse, it is located down an alleyway off it. It is a longtime Salzburg confectionery as it was founded in 1880. The shop has a delectable selection of sweet treats, including pastries, cakes (individual and slices) and chocolates. They also serve coffee drinks and have a good amount of seating if you are dining in. I loved this place so much that I visited it twice in one day for breakfast and an evening dessert. Their hazelnut pastry is something I still crave and think about. And make sure to try their sacher torte if you love chocolate cakes. It is clear why this business has stood the test of time. The quality of their products and the service here is great.

I tried their chocolate cake and a cheese streudel cake -- both were good. Not earth-shattering delicious (1 star off), but good cakes to share with a friend over a cup of coffee. The ladies who run the shop are lovely; they are like the grandmas that you wish you had!
