But I do know a little history about this theater, I was born in Chicago, Illinois and what I know about this Movie Palace is the designers. Architects Rapp and Rapp designed the Balaban and Katz Chicago Theater opened up on October 26, 1921. Rapp and Rapp designed the Lowe's Paradise Theater in New Jersey. This movie palace of the 1920's era, undergoing restoration as we speak. I know that it's going to look more beautiful, once The restoration is complete and restored to it's natural glamor look.

I've gone to Loew's for the Jersey Journal's 150th anniversary celebration during which the movie 'His Girl Friday' was screened and there was an organ mini-concert. I also saw Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile at Loew's back in November. I recommend checking it out for the programming, but also to see some beautiful architecture inside. Plus, for the most part, the events are very affordable. It's a unique experience.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful ushering everyone to ticketed areas. A full bar and bites are available to pay with cash or card. There is a balcony level which overlooks the entire hall. If it's a sold out / crowded show I can definitely see how this is overwhelming for a small child. If you have a child under 5 I'd say to avoid, especially since they can't really see the stage unless you pick them up. Another huge disappointment was that Taylor Swift was not dressed up. When we saw this show at Starland Ballroom Taylor was in costume. At White Eagle the singer was just wearing a black Rock and Roll Playhouse tee shirt. I think they could've had a lot more fun with this and the kids would've been excited. For a sold out show they also could have also kept both sides of the bars open. Lines were crazy long. And for the kids drink on special they should probably consider offering a lid with the cup. It felt like miss after miss for a 'kid friendly' event, so we probably wouldn't head back here for a Rock and Roll Playhouse, or at least I'd wait until my kids were older.

These friends had each been divorced for many years and found each other...literally as next door neighbors about ten years ago. They decided it was important to them at this point to make their partnership legal and so they had a lovely wedding ceremony at City Hall and were married by the mayor of Jersey City. The reception was later held at this beautiful historic manse. Fortunately even though Covid was still in our midst things were not as bad then as they are now; the rooms were spacious and had enough room to practice appropriate social distancing. The architectural details abounded in this place. It seems to be a hidden jewel amidst the astonishing number of modern high rises that are popping up throughout Jersey City which is seeing a renaissance of sorts. It's a perfect venue for weddings, parties, music recitals and whatever you might need to rent a pretty space for. You can bring in your own caterers and bartenders as our friends did for this wedding. You are a Path subway line away from lower Manhattan. Suddenly there are quite a few reasons to venture out of Manhattan and over to Jersey City to experience. Who woulda thunk?

This play is about a universal theme of love, sex and relationships. If you are looking for love,…read moreand who isn't, this show will speak to you. For me, everything in this comedic play seemed all too familiar..during the show, I kept on thinking, OMG I think I found bits and pieces of myself in all the women characters...which makes me ask myself, am I crazy?!!!??? I'm okay with that....because MEN ARE A**HOLES. One of the actors when introducing the play in the beginning and after the intermission was making the audience chant..he would say Women are crazy because men are........and the audience, made up of mostly females said......A**HOLES!!!!!!! It felt therapeutic to shout it out loud! I was really getting into it...I looked at my boyfriend and he was making a frowny face. ahahha. I was trying to get him to chant A**HOLES too but he wouldn't bite. He said men are a**holes because they used to be hunters...okay. ahahhahah. That's why I love him! He's my hunter, now go hunt! This play reminds me of the book, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. The play is set at one of the character's home, Nicole is throwing a soiree to celebrate meeting her internet fling for the first time, at this soiree!! Nicole invited her whole entire family to meet this internet fling that she herself never met...WHO DOES THIS??!! Nicole's family consisted of her sister and her BF, her brother and his GF, and her best friend and her BF. There was another couple that were supposed to be at the soiree but never showed up. All these couples are all having dysfunctional relationships, which makes for a funny play. This play takes a look into human nature, human relationships and human behavior. Sometimes the play may seem over the top, overly dramatic and highly passionate to get some laughter from us, but I recognize the characters all to well!! I know people just like the characters on stage in this play. I definitely have seen some of the characteristics even in myself. I felt ashamed at times...but laughed at myself! The comic timing in this show is awesome. My favorite couple is Hillary and George who never even made it to the soiree! I was laughing through the whole show. Even coming back from the intermission was fun! Be forewarned, women are going to be portrayed as psychotic beings, men are going to be portrayed as insensitive liars and we all need each other in unhealthy ways. But at the end it's all for laughs and for fun which this play definitely accomplishes...I would highly recommend this entertaining show for any adult who has been through dating or relationship angsts. This show is definitely Rated R for RAUNCHY! See it if you want to laugh your A** off! Last day of show is June 21, HURRY!

This intelligent play was one of my favorite ones I have seen, as it is so merciless honest !!! Even with a smart New Yorker audience, am convinced everyone could recognize themselves at some point. Yes this a pretty genius piece !!!!! You could go with your other half or a date... that will be fun !!! A MUST--IF YOU STILL CAN GET TICKETS-- !!!! The Cherry Lane theatre: "Oh my"... this is the cutest charming theatre which is located at a tree lined old fashion cobble street and fairytale houses, the inside is as wonderful: intimate, comfy, simple, it is just right.
