I had called at least 3 times prior to this appointment to confirm the date and time and was told everything was OK. I was not happy to find out the day before of the appointment that it was rescheduled to end of July and he would be seeing the PA. I was not happy since I had driven 5 hrs, visit was with the PA and had a hotel booked for a few days. I asked to reschedule for another day when we could see the Specialists and was told that he was not seeing any more patients. I cannot give a review about the doctor since we did not see him but I did read 2 reviews recently that was not favorable. The office staff needs some direction and better skills in communicating. I would think twice about this place.

Luckily I was able to speak to a receptionist at their office in harlingen which then referred me to the Brownsville office! Dr. Austin was amazing I'm so thankful that they were able to help me! They did not even think twice when I explained my situation. I was in and out of their office in under 30min. Dr. Austin and all the nurses were very friendly and comforting. I was delighted to find someone like Christine Alejandro in the RGV…read more I first met her several years ago at a nutritional informational event that included healthy luncheon options. It was delicious! I then visited her at her office for counseling and learned of her other interest such as acupuncture and biofeedback. I did my own research on energy therapies. They sounded promising and so I took the plunge! I was not disappointed. I had three biofeedback sessions. I have to say that I just felt relaxed as never before; almost a "cleansing" effect. Less brain fog and probably was a more pleasant person to be around! At least for a few days! It was subtle. Again, I revisited this therapy and really did some "deep-cleaning" of the soul. It was a bit disturbing as some past, painful events came to the surface. Christine reminded me that this happens sometimes. Taking an Epson's salt soak helps to purge the negative effects of this energy. I noticed that I continued to release old memories that were less than pleasant. Eventually the intensity dissipated. A work in progress! It took a lot of years of experiencing life to be where I am today. Some moments wonderful, some challenging and some best to let go of. I would encourage everyone to do your own homework and read about these energy healings. My PCP schedule me here and I needed to wait a month and a half for my appointment. On the day of…read moremy appointment I called to confirm and over the phone. They decide to tell me that they had trouble verifying my insurance and for that reason I was scheduled for an appointment they had over a month and I have to reach out to me and get this sorted and they choose a day of my appointment to look into my insurance. Once they finally did, they basically told me my insurance was only able to cover $75 off the entire visit and the consultation itself. I was looking at over $150 and asked for the procedures they were gonna do. I was looking at paying $1500-$5000. From my understanding, I thought pain management was just to help you with prescriptions. They told me prescriptions is not what they do and that it's more of a treatment center with different medical procedures. I waited a month and a half to see these people to help get my terrible pain under control only for them to wait the day of my appointment to be told this information. If I could give these people less than a one star, I would. Terrible communication and lack of care for the patient. Absolutely do not consider going here.

Thankfully I saw Menchaca Family Clinic on FB and was reading their approach to healthcare. It is a monthly fee depending on patient's age. No copays, no deductibles, no "let me verify with your insurance", no premiums, no out of pocket maximums, just taking care of the person and their ailment. We signed up online and that same day, received a phone call by Mary. She is super sweet and polite. Thank you Mary! We scheduled the initial visit and in just a few days, we were there at the time scheduled. No lines, no waiting, no random people coughing and sneezing all over the place. Not even a TV. What for? You won't wait long enough. Mary helped with some blood work and then the next week we received a call for the results. Mr. Menchaca went over the results very thoroughly and explained everything bit by bit along with a physical assessment. The prescription was faxed to our local pharmacy within a few hrs. I have never seen an office so organized. So technologically advanced. We don't even have to "sign in" when we go in. "Healthcare like a gym membership." Thank you Menchaca Family Clinic for these last two weeks. So thankful to have you in the RGV. Highly recommend!!!
