Beautiful hike through the rain forest. We started at the top of the Minyon Falls at the lookout and followed the track to the base of Minyon Falls. It first tracks across the top ridge away from the ridge to the other side of the canyon and starts descending slowly into the bottom of the rain forest floor. At the end of the loop trail, one turns left for the base of the Minyon Falls. But it's boulder walk for 10 minutes. I actually twisted my left ankle on the way back. If the fall is dry, I don't know if it's worth the trouble to go to the base. There is a shallow lake at the base but the bottom is very rocky and hard to walk on.
We then headed toward the Minyon pass, which is a nice gradual walk in the rain forest. Then 20 minutes on the Minyon pass (a gravel road back to the car park) gets you to the original destination. It's a fast way to go back then taking the loop trail back again. read more
