Update: After I wrote this review, Diana reached out to me and offered to try and fix my lashes! Unfortunately I did not have time to go in again but I appreciated the gesture. Original review: I've been to Mint Skin twice for lash lifts now. First off, Diana is great and the service is very professional. The salon is conveniently located near a lot of shopping in Encinitas and I was able to easily get an appointment last minute. Additionally, her lash lifts are the cheapest in north county, most other places charge twice as much. Her process is also so fast, I was in and out in 20 mins! The reason for the four star rating is because of the actual lash result. While it did wonders for lifting up my lashes overall, the final result was a bit messy on one eye. One of my eyes has some eyelashes that are bent in the middle and randomly stick out and criss cross in random directions. These photos were taken 24 hours after my lift--I had not touched them or gotten them wet at all (I also do not sleep on my face). I spent five minutes trying to brush them to look better before taking the photo and this was the best I could get. I included photos of both eyes. Overall, in my experience, was this an amazing lash lift? No. But for the price in comparison to other places, I'm not too upset about it. Diana is seriously the best! I could rave about her all day. Here's the quick highlights: Diana is professional, experienced, knowledgeable, and an absolute pleasure to chat with. I have not had a facial since beauty school (2009-2010), so when I looked for an esthetician, I really wanted to get it right! I had reviewed this yelp page and skimmed the Mint Skin website and felt it was an obvious choice. Diana was very welcoming as soon as my appointment began and I admitted I was willing to change the service I had selected, based on her advice. She suggested a hydra facial because I had several clusters of acne due to (what I found out in the appointment) most likely scented products and pimple patches! Diana did tell me all the steps within the facial as she placed product on, but honestly I was already in heaven and had a hard time retaining the information. Regarding that, I did not feel worried because she made it known that I could reach out to her about my skin or product concerns. Diana has 22 years of experience and it is obvious with her knowledge of skin, products and the way she handled my face with care. She mentioned her extracts were not for the faint of heart (a quote from a review) and I came with a knowing and willing attitude. My opinion is this: do not ask people to extract (or press and squeeze your skin) your black heads/white heads and expect it to feel good or nice. Diana commended me for taking the extraction like a champ and I appreciated that! It is painful but worth it! She reminded me several times that we heal as we sleep (it is true and I saw a drastic reduction of redness from the extractions after one night- and I am prone to redness). We had an awesome exchange throughout the rest of the facial. And I felt extremely relaxed. She was willing to work with me on slowing building products, but I decided to heed her advice full steam ahead and buy a whole new skin care routine. That was last Saturday and it is the following Thursday. My skin continues to look clearer, more hydrated and even glowing. The picture I attached is from yesterday and I can't be more stoked about the results. I honestly feel very beautiful and I have to thank Diana for that tremendously. She also mentioned adding a colleague onto her staff to enable her to take in more clients; I did meet her as I left (but I forget her name, I'm sorry!). She was also pleasant and Diana encouraged trusting that her colleague was also a trustworthy and knowledgeable option for future appointments. If you need a pick me up and are honest with yourself about your current skin condition, your expectations and your pain tolerance- then you should try out Mint Skin! If you expect miracles instantaneously or "no pain" extractions- you might need a genie. Just a joke! Omgosh! Diana gave me my first brazilian that I was happy with! I went in with a lot, came out beautifully bare. :) She was very prompt in communications before the appointment, and a sweetheart during. I got my first facial today and had the best experience! Not only was the studio cute and clean, but Diana was amazing and very welcoming! The studio is in beautiful Del Mar and there is a ton of parking! I decided to go "all out" and get the full microdermabrasion facial. First, Diana asked me about my skin type as well as my skin routine, and asked if there were any areas I wanted her to focus on - for someone who isn't too familiar with their skin, I found this very helpful! She made me feel very comfortable, which was great. She started with a few different cleansers and then started the microdermabrasion. This was obviously my first time and it's a bit uncomfortable, but she thoroughly explained the process and made sure I was ok throughout. The facial ended with a mask, an AMAZING massage (neck, shoulders, arms, lower legs & feet) and a serum/moisturizer to top it off. She didn't try and up-sell me or anything along those lines - she just made helpful suggestions for different products and treatments I should try moving forward. 044 / 100 - 2016 YELP 100 CHALLENGE. As an Asian girl, I suffer from: 1. Shapeless, but sparse eyebrows 2. Eyelashes that refuse to curl Number 1 isn't too much of a big deal as I typically fill them in, but 2 is a total pain in the butt. It's one thing if they were short (which they are), but they CANNOT hold a curl whatsoever. I've tried every eyelash curler in the universe, heated them, and my eyelashes STILL would not obey. No big deal because I can just wear false eyelashes right? WRONG. Because I couldn't get my real eyelashes to hold a curl, they didn't mesh as well as I would want with falsies. I have begrudgingly accepted the fact that maybe false eyelashes and curled lashes aren't in the cards for me. Earlier this year my best friend told me that I should look into getting my eyelashes permed. This would force them to curl and, after enough times of doing it, they would be easier to curl in the future. I immediately started looking through different places that offered eyelash perms and I found Mint Skin. YAY!!! Diana is nothing but an absolute dream. She's sweet, friendly, and definitely knows her stuff. Setting up an appointment was easy and when the day of the appointment arrived, I was running late. I left her a voicemail to tell her this and she texted me back to tell me it was a-ok. Phew! (Thankfully I made it in the end.) When I got in and we started the process, she explained every step she was doing. The process itself is relatively short and easy (about ~25 minutes total) and COMPLETELY painless. She has you lay down, gets the curlers ready with the perming solution, and then puts 'em on your eyelashes! She then leaves to let you relax for the next 10min, comes back, preps a second time, and then leaves for another 10-12min. Then you're done! Crazy, right??? To be completely honest, it's hard not to fall asleep... She always asks what station I want to listen to, if I want a pillow to prop my knees over, etc. Very sweet and accommodating -- not to mention a great conversationalist. I'm awkward and don't talk much, so I'm glad that she's easy to talk to lol. I DO want to note that after you get them done, DO NOT GET THEM WET FOR 24HRS. So if you're going in for an appointment, make sure your face is bare, you've already showered, etc. Appointments are usually a month apart for the first three times and then once you've beaten your eyelashes into complete and utter submission, they can be spaced out. I got the first appointment done before Memorial Day weekend and it lasted for quite a while. If I ever thought they looked droopy, I would just perk them back up with an eyelash curler and mascara -- completely different than what they were before lol. It also made wearing false eyelashes really easy breezy during a convention. I wanted to cry from joy bahahahaha. The only downside is that the parking can be painful as Mint Skin is located in Hillcrest. It is ALL metered parking around here, but they (thankfully!!!!!!) take card. Overall a great experience and something you should look into if your eyelashes are stubborn little things. read more

She takes the time to ask you about your skin and care routine, and this time she made sure to ask if there had been any changes since my last visit.
