Ran some errands and figured we'd swing by and grab some items to make sushi at home for a date night. Was I pleasantly surprised when I walked in? 100000% yes! Quite honestly I didn't have any expectations as I've got nothing to compare it to yet, but between the well laid out aisles, ZERO odor (they've got some sea food, spices, teas.. chill folks) greeting you, PLENTY of product, excellent prices you have to make it at least once! Now I didn't go for the whole frozen octopus, or the mochi for dessert, but I did toss in a few 20% proof (woo) Sake that I'm quite excited about (the sweet gal made sure I knew it'll be cloudy, so appreciated that!). Do I have children chop sticks - you know, with the cute little design or animal, perfectly spacing the "how" to use - 100000% I do! Those little rice candies? The bring back childhood eating one rice paper wrapper at a time (it's actually edible!) super fast! Never mind that very underrated fruit, LYCHEEEEE! It's like if Peter Pear and Molly Mandarin had a baby, and named it, Lychee Jolene "Taste Like" Pear-Mandarin. Am I wrong?! Yall gotta go Oh also? I didn't realize pictures or videos aren't allowed without permission, so if OOFG is in here, IM SO SORRY..

Most of the items here are not things you would probably find in a regular supermarket. I love to visit specialty stores like this, so I give it 5 stars, but I wouldn't be able to do most of my regular grocery shopping here. To be honest, I noticed this restaurant a couple years ago, but was dissuaded from trying it…read morebecause of the upkeep of the surrounding area. That was unfortunate. After a pop-up ad on DoorDash recently, I decided to look at the menu and was very excited to try them out. After running a couple errands, I decided to treat myself to take out, was in the area, and decided to take a chance. I'm glad I did!! Now, as a vegetarian, I love Indian food because there are so many options for me. There is one curry that I love but is generally only offered on chicken, sometimes it can be found with shrimp, but Maharaja offers all their curries with your choice of protein!!! That means I can get my sour sorrel leaf curry with either my choice of paneer cheese or they even offer tofu!!! I've never seen an Indian restaurant that offered tofu. Not only that - but when I asked about the medium spice level, the young lady waved her hand and said ehhh medium. I got spicy. I like spicy. This is truly spicy.!!! I'm in heaven!!! And there's a lot of paneer chunks in the curry. The race that comes with it is a fragrant rice instead of just a plain rice, which is nice. I also got the mixed basket Naan. The naan is interesting. It's like a very large, very thick tortilla - almost like a pizza dough texture. Not the light and airy from a super hot tandoori. Delicious but not the usual naan that I'm used to. The fruit naan made me happy because it didn't have the maraschino cherries that most of the restaurants seem to use. For my appetizer of course I got Samosa. The pastry is wonderful even after sitting and getting to room temperature. It's still a lovely texture. The potatoes inside are a little bit more mashed than I would like, but the flavor is amazing. I thought the cilantro-chutney sauce would be disappointing, but I was pleasantly surprised on that as well. Even though it looked thin and creamy, it actually had a lot of flavor, it was quite spicy, and had a nice hit of citrus that went very nicely with the samosas. Maharaja one of those hole in the wall gems!!!!

Everything was spiced beautifully and a lot of options can be made gluten free. My favorite bite was the mysore masala dosa and the paneer tikka masala. Everything was spiced beautifully. We got the level 3 for most items, and a couple 2's as well. I love spice, but I don't like when food is too spicy I can't enjoy it. This was a good happy point for me. I loved how there were so many options that were gluten free that I could enjoy as well. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side and a seat yourself sort of feel. We went around lunch time and got serviced in a timely manner. They did seem a bit understaffed, so give them a little grace went it comes to service. Overall, definitely a place I would go back to!

And allthough the owner was an extremely nice person, and the food he had good...he apparently was unfamiliar with Mediterranean geography. There were no French, Spanish, or Italian foods, not that I wanted any. There were a few Greek products (candy, ready made lamb meat for Gyros, etc) ; but the mainstay seemed to be Muslim oriented foods with a decent variety of unusual types of rice and variations of coos-coos, also many spices, candies. What I ended up purchasing were 2 plastic bags of dried Iranian plums. They were small, with a large seed...but were deliciously sweet and all natural. Worth checking out.

I ordered the chicken vindaloo and the gobi Manchurian. The chicken vindaloo had really good spices and flavor. The chicken however was a bit on the dry side. First time trying it and I will definitely try to make my own version since there's no Indian cuisine in my area. I'm happy I stopped by. I would gladly return in the future when I'm in town. Nothing over the top and nothing bad just normal good. My dish had zero spice level to it so it was easy to eat, though I do not mind a little bit of spice but this had none. I do wish they gave you a couple pieces of naan nstead of one. I would prefer two pieces of naan over just one and maybe two potato balls instead of three. Those potato balls were pretty basic as well. I got the $16 large meal bowl so it came with my entrée, a side, and a drink which was fair. I also added on a small order of those sweet dessert balls, which I have always enjoyed. Service was very fast so I was in and out when I ordered at the inside counter. Overall I would rate my meal 7/10.
