This was my second attempt at using Minnesota Women's Care, and unfortunately it was another…read moredisappointing experience. I had a blood draw scheduled for 8:00 AM at the Woodbury location. By 8:15 the lab still wasn't open. The front desk staff checked and said several employees were running late due to the weather, which is understandable, but they also mentioned there were supposed to be five people working and they couldn't reach anyone. Around 8:30 a staff member opened the lab window but didn't turn on the lights or acknowledge the three of us waiting in the lobby. At 8:40 I went back to the front desk to ask if they knew when someone would be available. The staff member from the lab came out and said she was the only one there and that we should have come to the window or rung the bell. With no lights on and no acknowledgment to us waiting, this was confusing to all of waiting. Instead of addressing the misunderstanding, the lady became defensive. She mentioned she could do the blood draw, yet at that point I chose to cancel my appointment. I was not comfortable with her performing the lab work. Another staff member showed up minutes after who helped cancel the appointment. What made the situation more frustrating was that by then it appeared there were at least two people in the back while patients with 8:00 AM appointments were still waiting without acknowledgment. The front desk staff were very kind and helpful, but the experience in the lab area showed poor communication and customer service. After two negative experiences, I would not recommend this clinic.

I hesitated writing a review for this one. Its not like I want the world to know why I have to go…read moreto this clinic, but thought about it and figured why the heck not. I'm a big one for calling out people who are a true credit to their profession and really go above and beyond for me as a patient. It's so eye opening to be on the other end of the health care side. The care giver side and not the analytical numbers side. This is my second appointment. This time I met with Patty who was absolutely fabulous! I hope for my sake and continuity of care I get to be with her all the time. She is one of the warmest, most educated, compassionate and helpful nurses I have ever met with. She explains everything so well and detailed that its easy to catch on and learn what you have to do. She's patient and just has a wonderful demeanor. Having to do what I have to do is not the best time nutrition wise, but its a small price to pay for the end result. I never thought I would have homework to do, but this stuff is an onslaught of info, charting etc. She explains it all very easily and not in a preachy way. I've learned so much from her. Things I have never really cared about that much, but have a better understanding of pre- and post baby. All the Yelp restaurants, food pics and temptations have to be put on the back burner for awhile, but an occasional indulgence here and there.... Now once baby gets here, I plan to get busy... Kidding (sort of )...No really; kidding. I don't want to have to do this again, but would if I got to go back to this clinic and have Patty work with me.

Tests, referrals etc makes ones' mind go all sorts of places. At least mine. Luckily for me, this place put my mind at ease. I had a wonderful patient experience. First off, all of the providers are so kind and genuinely care about my well being and baby's well being. Our ultrasound tech was one of the warmest, sweetest, caring techs I've ever encountered. She explained everything in thorough detail and kept us aware of everything she was doing. I like that A Dr. comes in after to confirm all of the findings so I didn't have to wait to find out. She was great also. As was the provider explaining everything in great depth and detail of what the u/s would consist of before hand. You can never have too much information in my opinion when you are treating a patient. The delivery from a provider means a lot too. The location is great. If you have to drive, park in the red ramp. However, they don't validate. So parking is on your own. The front desk staff gets you in and out quickly. The waiting room is filled with plenty of magazines and a TV. I couldn't have asked for better providers or better care. Dr's and clinics need to know how they are doing a good job, too.

A few months ago I went to see Dr. McCarthy in Eagan. He works out of both Eagan and West St. Paul. I had a really bad toenail. After some discussion we decided to remove the nail. The process was much easier than I had anticipated and relatively painless. My toe feels much better. I recently went back to see Dr. McCarthy to discuss both of my big toes. He gave me a couple of treatment options. Again we were able to complete the procedure the same day. My wife has now also seen Dr. McCarthy for a foot issue. We appreciate both Dr. McCarthy and his nurse for their care. Our feet are definitely feeling better after a visit to our good feet Dr. McCarthy.

Busy clinic. They lost my bloodwork request fax…read more Didn't add either my appointment or test results to MyChart. When I rang "their" number it's the central Allina number in Coon Rapids, who couldn't get hold of them (no one picked up) and couldn't provide me with a direct number, as the Coon Rapids telephone factory operates internally with only extensions. There is no number for this clinic. Blood work elsewhere, eg. Allina United Family Clinic, is usually same day and appears on MyChart. Apparently the African American lab staff also have to deal with racism from patients who don't want their blood drawn by black people. Go anywhere else. Adding this: I found out a few days later that they hadn't billed the blood tests to my insurance, and consequently I got a bill for $$677.29. This necessitated me having to create an account with Quest Diagnostics and go and enter insurance information there. It's still pending. Results didn't take the usual day, they took a week to receive and only after I'd registered and entered insurance details with Quest Diagnostic. It was like Quest were holding them until they knew where payment was coming from. Results are not on my Allina's MyChart, meaning the feature where you can compare them to previous test results was defeated. I've been an Allina/United Hospital patient for years. My insurance details are already all in their system. There's just no excuse for this level of discombobulation just because i'd moved and thought I'd get my regular tests done at a nearer Allina clinic. I'll be taking the bus an hour each way to my former clinic rather than go through this again.

Sorry, busy women (read: ALL WOMEN) do NOT have time to sit around for an hour+ past scheduled-appointment time. And at least have the courtesy to tell us upon arrival if a provider is running late (or could you call or text if she's an hour behind), and gosh, approach us in the waiting room with an apology and update so we can plan accordingly. I had to abandon my appointment. (Women are managing so much these days and when we FINALLY take time to take care of ourselves, please recognize that and help us!)
