I went here for my annual eye exam, like I have for years. They dilated my eyes and my eyes were uncomfortable the rest of the day, which I expected. What I didn't expect was that the next day my vision was blurry and my eyes were in significant pain. I called and was told to use eye drops. I did, and it only got worse. The following day I went to a different eye doctor and was diagnosed with an eye infection. Based on the timing, I have serious concerns about sanitation and hygiene practices at this clinic. Been waiting for six weeks to get my cataract surgery scheduled at the Minnetonka clinic. I get that it was the holidays and getting in before year end wasn't going to happen. But it took three weeks past my appointment to hear from scheduling. Then it's just been constant telephone tag. They say you'll hear back in two days. Bases on phone call history it's taking much longer. If you call the main desk they just route you to the same voicemail you left a message with. I just read that I need a pre op physical at least two weeks before. Plus I have to plan around eye shots with my other doc. And finding someone who can drive me. It just seems like a shit show. I'm completely losing faith in this practice. Which is disappointing because the initial office visit seemed to go very well. If there is something preventing the appointment from being scheduled mentioned it when you leave a voice mail so patients can manage their expectations appropriately. read more

This is a surgery factory, do not expect any attention to your history or time with the surgeon. After waiting months for surgery was called less than 24 hours before and told I had glaucoma and would need stents in both eyes. Forever regret this surgery as sight is much worse than when I started. read more

I have read some scathing reviews for Minnesota Eye Consultants. I feel bad for those having a negative experience, but hasten to mention, my experience was not at all the same as yours. My surgeries were on the 9th of February and 6th of March. Dr. Hansen and his team(to many to mention and I do not want to forget anyone) were outstanding, caring, competent and concerned with me as the patient. The evening call from Dr. Hansen after surgery assured me of his concern for my health. Left a message to reschedule an appt. never returned my call. Do not go here for contacts. They were unable to do cataract surgery and advised contacts and glasses. Ordered one contact since I only need to correct vision in one eye. Paid $450 for one contact! Scheduled an appt but had to reschedule which was a nightmare because OD only sees patients 2x week in Minnetonka. Got an appt for class to learn how to insert contact and dr appt 6 weeks after I paid them due to scheduling. Wish I had gone to my last surgeon in San Diego. I will not return. 2/1/18 Got my contacts. Needed the class on how to insert and clean, maintenance. Seems complicated and I wore contacts for over 20 years. I hope I can get this. read more

Dr. Hansen is a class act! Top of the line surgeon! My husband and I had or Lasik/PRK done on the same day and I recommend him without any reservations. Called to discuss a "consultation fee" that they charge. Business office was INCREDIBLY rude and unprofessional. I would never use them in the future only based on my call prior to my appointment. Yikes! Run! I recommend searching elsewhere. read more

I was seen by one of the cataract specialists who told me there was nothing that could be done to help my vision being blocked out because my cataracts weren't bad enough, and weren't the cause, anyway. He never explained what it was that was blocking out my vision, just shrugged his shoulders, said he didn't know, and told me it was up to me whether I want to continue driving or not after I explained that twice I nearly ran over pedestrians because they were blocked out of my vision. Then he only wrote a partial prescription for new eyeglasses, and said I'd have to make a second appointment to get the rest of it from a doctor that could write the portion for the prism I need to correct my strabismus (misaligned eyes). Say what??? I thought this guy was an MD! TWO appointments to get a full eyeglass prescription? That's ridiculous! I ended up going to my regular optometrist (NOT an MD) to get the full explanation as to what was blocking out my vision (proteins, or floaters, that discolored with age, and do not actually float, rather remain suspended in the vitreous fluid in the eye like fruit in Jell-O) because he could actually see them when he examined my eyes. Then he was able to write the full prescription I needed for glasses. Either the MEC doctors are lazy, their medical school training was severely lacking, or it's a money-making scam by the clinic by forcing you to make more than one appointment for a full eyeglass prescription. I would NEVER use this clinic again. read more

A few years back had cataract surgery w/ MEC. After 3 yrs. had to go back for laser surgery to remove a film that had developed. This took me 5 visits - the first (where I waited for ;over an hour to be seen and had to find someone to see me) then they did assessment and said I definitely needed the surgery. Made appointment for surgery, waited another hour after my appointment time, then saw dr. and was told I needed the surgery - ,make another appointment for same. Came in for surgery and after another hour wait ( with eyes dilated) finally was called in. By that time I was so angry (blood pressure 250/200) they said they wouldn't do the surgery due to that. Told them the reason it was so high was I waited so long and was very angry and they were GOING TO DO IT!!! Doctor came waltzing in, did the surgery in about 5 min. and left. Will never go back there and do not recommend them to anyone!!! read more
