Our fifth & final stop today was the Marietta Antique Mall in downtown Marietta Ohio. Free parking, dim lighting and very musty smelling. And we always find a treasure to take home. Riverview Antiques is a spacious shop nestled among a line of similarly charming shops near the Ohio and Muskingum rivers in downtown Marietta. My wife and I love to start our river crawl at Riverview Antiques by the Ohio River, and gradually, shop by shop, make our way down Front Street until we can rest our feet and sink our teeth into homemade fudge at Favorite Things. Riverview is operated by knowledgeable gentlemen who really know (A) where to find cool antiques, and (B) how to present them in a store so that you feel like you're in a time machine and walking around someone's living room 100 years ago. And the prices are pretty good, too. Don't leave Marietta without checking them out.

The general fiction leans heavily towards the Christian fiction and related genres, but there was some contemporary fiction like Saramago and DFW (I almost bought a copy of "Infinite Jest," but really, when am I going to have time to reread that?). Their sci-fi and fantasy collection wasn't too bad either. Prices were pretty good (the aforementioned DFW was listed at $7, and sci-fi paperbacks between $2-4). The proprietor let us know that everything is catalogued, so you could inquire about a particular title if you were looking for something specific. It looks like they also buy used books, which is good to know. They do play religious music in the store, but they also have Bible verses posted in the window, so I suppose that's fair warning.

After waiting until 12:01, I successfully placed my order and received a confirmation email and order number. After 8 days of checking the order status daily and seeing no activity on the order, I attempted to call customer service. The recording said the call volumes were high and asked if I wanted to leave a number for them to call me back. I did. About an hour later they called but, when I answered, they still had me on hold. Thirty minutes later, to the exact minute, they disconnected my call. I decided to go to my local GameStop for help. The employees were super nice and initially tried to be helpful by calling their own customer service number. After the clerk waited unanswered on hold for thirty minutes I asked if I could leave my number so she could call me back. 20 minutes later she called to say that she couldn't do anything about my online order but that the manager would sell me a similar bundle for $100.00 more and give me a $50.00 store card. I said no thank you and hung up. When I got home, my original order number no longer existed and all I got was an error message that no such order ever existed. I have the printed copy of my order that was received and confirmed on November 26 and get it now has been conveniently deleted by Gamestop. My advice to anyone looking to buy gaming equipment is to buy it ANYWHERE but GameStop online. I gave my order and the extra $100.00 I had to pay to Walmart! I will NEVER EVER shop at Gamestop again and I plan to tell as many people as possible about my poor customer experience.
