The interior is so classic old world with lots of wood, beautiful leather chairs and chandeliers. The selection is very good and the service is superb. The owner is very friendly and speaks multiple languages. He even has a machine to widen the shoe just in case it's not the perfect fit. If you walk in here you are likely to get enchanted into buying something. A gorgeous place to stop if you are looking for stylish women's shoes or boots.

Luckily our visit to the Strasbourg Christmas Market and subsequent walk around Historic Old Town, allowed us to find this Mephisto location.....as I was hobbling along in my unfashionable tennis shoes I knew Mephisto made comfortable sandals for city walking & we were hoping to score the same comfort in a winter boot.....and score we did! They had a large selection of short boots and tall boots as well - I was seeking their riding boot ( that came up to my knee ) And seeing my ideal boots in their window, we took a chance & they had my size....and on sale!! The lady assisting me was so very pleasant & knowledgeable in their shoes & how they should fit - she talked about all the qualities of the shock absorption technology, all my feet were saying was you have to keep these lovelies! And keep them I did.....I even wore them out of the store. Santa arrived early with these incredibly awesome boots!

Because they had the *cutest* Christmas shoes - thick felt shoes with fuzzy lining ( almost like an Ugg boot ) that I imagine could be slippers or shoes. The soles are thick enough to wear outdoors but there is no real foot support or shock absorption so not sure what they were meant to be, shoes or slippers? But didn't make a difference because they were so cute, I had to bring them home with me! I chose a pair with teddy bears and another with a sparklie Eiffel Tower And not to be one to leave lovelies behind, there was a pair of short brown boots that had a nice leather star on the ankle that I thought would also be perfect for the holiday season - or anytime really. You'll find a wonderful selection of quality leather shoes, short boots, tall boots for men & women - worth a visit!! The lady working in the shop was extremely warm & friendly & we count this among our treasures, found at the Christmas Market

(Weirdly, this is my second time Yelping a Galeries Lafayette solely because of its bathroom.) My mom took my son to pee while I hung out downstairs with his brother, a loopy three-year-old on vacation mode and California time. He was briefly asleep in his stroller when we parted with the bathroom crew, but awake and ready to party by the time I saw them get on the escalator. I tried to admire the Jerome Dreyfuss bags and other nice merchandise set out on the department store's main floor, but mostly I kept my child from running into people while he danced. The place was mobbed during Christmas season, and the line for the bathroom was apparently ludicrous, long and slow-moving. I was counting the minutes and it felt like we were waiting for hours. Anyway, if you want to shop at a big department store in Strasbourg, I'm sure Galeries Lafayette is the place to go. If all you need is a bathroom, perhaps there are better options.

Window displays with Christmas themed set ups and moving dolls and such. Quite clever, almost New York's Macy's. Inside, I took the opportunity to walk the entire store. Typical department store though very tidy and very neat. Bedroom, kitchen, outerwear, menswear, shoes, handbags, cosmetics. Prices? Well, they're expensive. Of that, there is no doubt.
