I recently used Mindy's for our board dinner. It was easy and perfect. Everyone loved the food (chicken piccata) and there was plenty of food. I contacted Mindy's to cater a reception to be held after a relative's memorial service. They said they were free on the date provided and we started to correspond about a possible menu. Then suddenly, I never heard back from them again. I sent two follow up emails and still nothing. That is an unfortunate way to lose business. It is already stressful to handle the planning of a reception when you are grieving. To get ghosted by them is completely unacceptable. read more

When someone says, "Lunch meeting tomorrow -- don't worry, lunch is provided," it usually sets my heart a-sinking. What they're really saying is, "We'll be dining on soggy sub segments and limp salad greens, which you can then wash down with a nice, sandy cookie." But someone pulled a fast one on me, kicked some serious corporate lunch booty, and ordered from Mindy's. The fajita lunch: chicken, beef, and veg fajitas accompanied by chunky homemade guac, freshly prepped pico, and sour cream. I don't eat meat, and I definitely wasn't expecting a whole lot from a pre-rolled veggie fajita, but this thing was ludicrously flavorful (so good I even went back for another in front of my co-workers, and we girls don't like to admit to eating seconds). Caramelized onion, grilled pepper, mashed black beans, all married in a salty, savory roll-up of goodness. Sides included a crisp green salad with almonds, cochita, and grapefruit vinaigrette, and a nicely al dente rice salad with cumin lime dressing. And nothing was soggy or limp! Washed it all down with a sticky, tart lemon bar. But I could have had an M&M cookie or a brownie with coconut topping. Oh, yeah. Best working lunch in recent memory. I imagine (fingers croooossssed...) there will be more of these in my future. read more

We used Mindy's to cater our wedding this past May. Our guests are still talking about the food- it was amazing. We had a "themed" menu in mind and Erin really worked with us to make sure our vision was executed. Her servers and staff at the wedding were highly professional and were so attentive. They knew what my husband and I were drinking and made sure if we were running low to keep a "stash" for us. Speaking of running low- we ran out of beer and they went out twice to replenish without us ever running out. Erin was amazing to work with- they do have a busy season but they respond to you and take care of everything. Used Mindy's for the first time to cater a friend's military promotion. It was just a simple lunch for 50 people, but multiple people came up to ask me who I had used and to request the contact information. Several people called it the best lunch spread they'd ever had. Particular praise for the pasta salad, tuna salad sandwich, and veggie sandwich. Personally, I thought the pickles were especially good. Easy to work with, delivered on time, provided everything we needed - we opted to provide our own paper products and beverages, but they had serving utensils for all the dishes they brought and lots of condiments for the sandwiches. I would definitely use them again for an office-type function without question and would definitely include them in those I explored for larger, more formal events. read more

They're now offering meal kits delivered to your door, and they are SO good. We get the meal for 4 and it's more than you need for 4, so we have plenty left over for lunch the next day. Well-balanced meal with veggies etc, so it's reasonably healthy without being bland or boring. And plenty of variety on the menu so there's always something for everyone, even kids who are picky eaters. read more

We used Mindy's to cater my mom's birthday party. The folks at Mindy's (Erin) were excellent to work with in setting up the event (super responsive, knowledgeable and friendly). The menu selections were great. The party itself went off without a hitch and many of the guest commented on how good the food was and how friendly and helpful the wait staff were. Coming into town for my son's graduation, I wanted to have a little party but had no idea where to turn. Mindy's did a fantastic job. I ordered food for 27 and had more than plenty. We had the Brie with berries, the hummus terrine, shrimp and chicken , salmon, and fabulous miniature desserts. Each came with appropriate vegetables, bread, and dipping sauces that were exquisite. 2013. Very mixed review. Won a catered dinner for 6 thru a charity function. Was looking forward to trying a new caterer. I'm familiar w Ridgewells & Design Cuisine. 1st thing: it was a bit hard to reach anyone at Mindy's Catering. I became frustrated because I wasn't getting a return call or email. It was a busy time of year, I give them that (it was between the holidays & the inauguration), but a call to say they got my message & would catch up w me on such & such date would have been professional. So after a lot of back & forth we got the date set. It just set a bad tone for what was to come. Now onto the menu. They list rockfish as a main course, but when I asked for it I was told it doesn't reheat well. WHAT? You offer dishes that aren't any good once they get to your client's home? Ok, whatever. They suggested the lamb, fine lamb it is. They par cook it & finish it at your house. The "chef" that came (& she was very very nice) said she liked to work w the kitchen lights dim. That was ok w me. Until I saw the lamb served. Over cooked & plated like a slab of brown prime rib. My mom who was one of the guest, was very kind to the chef, not wanting to insult her. She later confided that the food was not "great" and that yes the lamb was over cooked, so much so that we had to pull out steak knives to hack through it. I was sooo embarrassed. Trying to make a special 50th anniversary dinner for my parents & a couple friends. It literally & figuratively left a bad taste in my mouth. Now I may have won the food, but to have the "chef" on hand was $200 inc tip. To be fair the appetizers were delicious. The blue cheese torte is amazing and worth trying, if you can order it as an a la carte item. Also the mini pastries for dessert were surprisingly yummy. I ordered a special cake from Ridgewells to have my bases covered, but since dessert was included as part of the Mindy's dinner I opted for mixed pasteries. Very very good. And another item I would get as a single order, if allowed. Mindy's seems to have some growing pains to still work through, even though they are not new. My hope would be to try them in another year to see how things have shaken out. Don't give up you've got a lo of potential. read more

I am so glad we used Mindy's to cater our wedding. We had a fall wedding at the Barns at Wolf Trap, and wanted a simple and rustic feel. Erin was able to create a wonderful hearty fall menu for us, and provided delicious pies for a pie bar. Our guests absolutely loved the food, as did we! Erin was also very responsive and paid close attention to details, and her judgement in terms of what would work for our venue was really valuable. In addition, we had several guests who were vegan, and Erin arranged delicious vegan meals for them. Couldn't be happier with our experience with Mindy's! read more

I've eaten at many meals catered by Mindy's, since they support a charity I work with, Executive Women International. I find the food to be exceptional. Usually there is at least one menu item so delicious that I'll talk about it for days afterwards. Everyone at EWI agrees, Mindy's food is great every time. An absolute gem! We engaged Mindy's to cater a cocktail reception at our home and they far surpassed our expectations. Erin White was spectacular - she listened, offered wise counsel, helped select the menu based on our interests and concerns, stayed engaged and connected, and all in all was a tremendous resource and advisor. The staff arrived 2 hours in advance of the reception and had everything completely under control. The food was fabulous - varied, interesting, delicious, and abundant. The staff were professional, at ease, welcoming, and attentive. When the evening was over our home was immaculate - Mindy's staff paid attention to every detail. We used Mindy's for the first time for a corporate event we were hosting. We did a luncheon on a Sunday for around 90 people. Erin and her team were fantastic to work with. She answered all our questions about the menu. It was important to us to make sure we had vegan options and menu items that children would like. We had several people compliment us on the food and ask who the caterer was. I guess the best testament would be that at the end of the event there were very few leftovers!
