I didn't use self checkout. The lady watched me come from the register after her co worker had scanned my stuff. Person behind me used self checkout they didn't check their receipt. And when I got there they were hassling some guy about his receipt for his toilet paper. Stop treating your customers like criminals.. there is plenty of other grocery stores in town that don't treat you like a criminal.

That is insane so I elected to no longer buy groceries from this place there's a Walmart 30 miles away and another small town and there's Dollar General in two different cities that aren't real far away. after looking at some of the other prices on some of the other stuff they have they are wanting to cater to millionaires evidently. For being in a small town this store has everything I am looking for and even some things I wouldn't expect (ie. a great ethnic food section) The meat counter guys are always awesome and helpful. The cashiers are always in a great mood and they even offer carry out service similar to Fareway. Being from a larger city I have to say that it is pretty awesome to be able to walk every isle in under 10 minutes and get my groceries and go home. I am glad to continue giving this grocery store my business. Great experience every time!

I want diverse items at a great price and having gone weekly to Aldi for over a year, they have delivered. You will be hard pressed to find all the items elsewhere at this price - Yes, sometimes some of the produce is older, etc, but that can be the nature of produce in general. For the price, (often times less than $1/lb for grapes as an example), I'll take 3% old grapes that i have to toss.

Employees are rude and 9 out of 10 times they never ask me for my points reward card (yet they ALWAYS ask the elderly customer in front of me, behind me, at the next counter, etc.). They never say thank you, have a great day, nothing. They follow you around the store and watch you like they think you are going to try to steal a turkey or something. Groceries are 2 to 3 times more expensive than Des Moines stores, so we buy the bare minimum here. I would prefer to shop locally and support local businesses, but they need to teach ALL their employees good customer service and how to smile and be friendly to customers. Of course, I've learned nearly everyone from Iowa is rude and that no one in this state understands good customer service anyway.

My big complaint is that they are really not great at keeping things in stock, especially sale/coupon items. Nine times out of ten, the sale/coupon item shelves will be empty if you don't get there first thing in the morning. We often end up going to the Madison Ave. location to shop because they do a fantastic job of keeping everything stocked. If they could do a better job with stocking at the Broadway location, I would certainly give them five stars.
