I went 2 times here and it was always a pleasure. I went to a puppet show (it is was a very weird story) but it was very well done. The cool thing is afterwards there was a Q&A session with the artist. It was nice to ask questions to better understand the play. Even the director of Gessnerallee was there. The biggest room has space for 400 people, sorry really not a huge thing. The gessnerallee used to be in old days a horse stable. They completely renovated it and turned it into a theatre, bar and restaurant. The interior is nice and cool ! Nice area to go out

The menu is hand-written, and we had to go inside to get drinks (got a tea). For our meal, we shared a fish dish which came with potatoes and bok choy as well as lentil patties. Both dishes had flavors that were fresh, light, tasty, could've done with more flavor though. Had tiramisu and panna cotta for dessert too, although the latter was a bit oddly laid out in squares on a plate. Tiramisu had moist cake but an overload of cream. Meal was quite pricey since Switzerland and all, came out to be around $80 for two, friendly staff.

That should mean something. The reason why this place was so special is that it was a little off the beaten path. If you are visiting in Zurich and have some more time to explore and relax, I would highly recommend. There are patio seats that overlook Lake Zurich, and it is absoutely exquisite. The graffiti art-lined walls in the background and the "hipster" vibe is slightly ironic as we're sitting next to one of most pristine and beautiful bodies of water in the country. Anyway, lovely place to come on a summer day to relax and enjoy yourself.

Thanks to Tillate, I got free tickets here for the Trentemøller concert last night. I was excited…read moreto finally check out this concert hall, as I had never been inside before. It was a lot smaller than I thought, but still a decent size for a concert. We grabbed some free earplugs by the security check at the entrance but ended up not needing them because we stood at the back. There was a large coat check area and bar to the other side. You have to pay a deposit for the cups and can get it back when you return the empty cups to the bar. I got a prosecco that came in a plastic goblet. Lots of staff working to direct the flow of traffic, so it wasn't too bad with all the people. We had to wait a bit for the main act, and there wasn't any place to sit, so I saw some people sitting on the ground along the walls. Real classy. :P Inside was an open hall with some seating along the sides on the upper floor. No one was sitting there yesterday though. There was a large light fixture on the ceiling, but other than that, the room was pretty bare. It was kind of dark though, so I couldn't get a good look at what it looked like inside. I guess the music wasn't really my friend's cup of tea, so we bailed early. But it was still kind of nice to check out.
