After 2 days, Spilotras clearly breached our contract by NOT performing in accordance to "spackling, sanding, priming...". They just wanted to slap paint on as quickly as possible without any prep work, then stopped the work altogether when we requested corrections. In an effort to salvage the project, we asked for a different crew, but they refused and demanded another $7,750! They had no intention to work with us to resolve the issues because they had our money. Adding more damage to us when we requested a refund, they claimed expenses of over $5,000 for 2 days of poor quality work. We asked for detailed accounting multiple times but were ignored because they likely cannot document them. If the total project was $15,500 for 2 weeks, how can the expenses be over $5,000 for 2 days? They realized these numbers were ridiculous, so they came back with another refund offer of $4,200 out of the $7,750 paid, which means they still want to keep $3,550 for 2 days ($1,750 per day!) of horrible work, from which we received no value but problems that we are paying another contractor to correct. We also incurred substantial expenses resulting from moving-in delays. Spilotras appears to feel that since they got our $7,750, they can be arrogant and not accept any responsibility for their failures. Instead, they chose to blame the customer and to extract profit from their failed performance.
