Sportsman's Paradise is a hotel, restaurant and fishing charter marina. We were in Chauvin and…read moredecided to eat lunch here. The lunch was pretty good. The service was mediocre. We ordered shrimp gumbo, bronzed shrimp, a shrimp platter, a shrimp salad and an oyster po-boy. The shrimp gumbo was very good. Although it was a only a cup, it had a good amount of large shrimp. The shrimp platter was very good as well. The shrimp were butterflied (I prefer non-butterflied) and fried perfectly. The platter came loaded with fries and four pieces of toast. The shrimp salad had homemade ranch which was excellent. The bronzed shrimp and po-boy both looked good, but I didn't try either. Our server seemed disinterested and never brought some of our party utensils. She wasn't very friendly either. The food made up for the poor service. If your in Chauvin, and want a good seafood meal, head to Sportsman's paradise. I should also mention that they sell really cool t-shirts. The shirts list several famous cities and have a recognizable image for each city. Check the photos and you will see one.

Andre has some really nice equipment, including a custom Gravois offshore rig. He is extremely knowledgeable, and works hard for success. Andre does all sorts of trips, but specializes in offshore runs in Summer, and inshore in Winter. If you want the "REAL DEAL", Andre is it !

June 30, 2015 My…read moreson and two good friends had the pleasure of a charter fishing trip from Cocodrie, La with Captain Andre Boudreaux, Andre has a beautiful 31' Gravois powered by twin 250 4 cycle outboards. The vessel handled the seas mightily, and Andre would maneuver it nimbly in and out of numerous fishing spots in the bays and Gulf. As it turned out the weather was nice and Captain Andre put us on the fish!! I was impressed with the effort of Captain Andre and his crew (Andre Jr) They made sure we had fresh bait on our lines at all times. We fished with his gear (all Penn) and battled large species with light tackle. We did not lose a fish at the boat, thanks to the "Johnny on the spot" ability of Andre Jr. If you are looking for a first rate fishing experience, inside or offshore, be sure to give Captain Andre a call. Checking out the offerings in towns (which are admittedly limited) and stumbled across this place,…read morewhich I had no idea even existed. It's tucked in at the far end of a very small strip mall perpendicular to Causeway, across from Lakeside Mall. The shop is TINY and selection is rather limited. The one guy that was in there (owner or manager, not sure which) was knowledgeable, though, and seemed to try and stay on top of making sure he had a full size range in everything that they do carry. Also friendly and helpful with the questions we were asking. They carry some different brands from Harry's, so if you're looking for different options you may want to check here before hitting the web. Of course the size in the one wetsuit that I wanted to try had just been re-ordered, so I was up a creek on that one the day we went in.
