Chris Comstock and his wife run a tiny little shop with really friendly, great service. I first encountered them when I bent my original glasses out of shape when I first moved to town. I wandered down to Lincoln Street, Chris carefully re-shaped my frames and wouldn't hear of charging me. I became a loyal customer at that moment. Since then I've bought three pairs of glasses here. I have a challenging prescription (extreme myopia and now graduated lenses) but Chris is always able to help me find frames that not only work to disguise the insanely thick lenses I have to have, but are fashionable and flattering to me. And he does it from a very small stock which he and his wife change often to reflect new trends. Maybe if you just have to have some very specific designer frames you might prefer to go elsewhere, but I would bet that the Comstocks could order in anything you'd want, and you will never find better service. Friendly, professional, knowledgeable, experienced -- that's South Shore Optical.

I went back and was told the lenses were correct for my prescription and I should just give it time. They still suck. Their original location was on Portland Street on the corner where the Taxi company is now and then they were in MicMac Mall for a number of years and now in their new home on Baker Drive. The one thing that hasn't changed is the customer service is fantastic. Helpful, professional, and informed. This is a family run business with Ray and Kathy Dickens still running the show. Their son Greg and the rest of the capable staff continue the service level that I've come to know for the over 35 years I've been getting glasses from them.
