I selected this firm from all of the other brochures in our mail room because it indicated that there were no contracts or no minimum hours. When I contacted Michael Surin I was advised that this was not the case. Despite the fact that the brochure clearly indicated there were no minimum hours, Advantage required a 4 hour minimum. I understood that and decided to proceed. When I advised him I was agreeable to a 4 hour shift and would require services 3 days a week, he then told me that there was a 20 hour minimum. Throughout the course of our conversation, Mr. Surin's tone was abrupt, rude and quite nasty. I decided to go elsewhere. If a potential client was treated in such a manner, I had no reason to believe my husband or I would be treated any differently AFTER we were clients. Within 15 minutes, I found 2 firms (one local and one national) who were not only willing to work with me but also spoke to me in a compassionate and professional manner. I chose to go elsewhere and I suggest you do the same.

Michael gave me great insights on what to expect not only from a physical standpoint, but things to be aware of regarding Mom's emotional well being as well. He coached me on ways to prepare Mom's home for her return and assured me that when the time came, Advantage Home Care Services would have capable caregivers to look after her on a day to day basis. Because my Mom had lived independently, I was sure that my Mom would hate having 24/7 caregiver's, but she actually loves them and enjoys the daily company and it's been a great blessing to have people who are ready to help and are very caring. The owner Patia was very sweet, thorough, and accommodating, not to mention she charges 1/2 of what other agencies charge. This was going to be perfect for my mother who is visiting from out of town. When I interviewed her, she seemed to get what I needed and was certain she could match us with an ideal nurse. I requested proof of her insurance and perhaps it was a coincidence but her effective date was the day of our scheduled work. Our 1st scheduled workday resulted in a nurse not showing up on time due to a family emergency. The nurse then texted that she would be here 2hrs late. This was not helpful as I would not be here to show her what was needed. I asked her if she was really able to assure me that she could make it, family emergebcy and all...and I was cursed out, called heartless and an F-bomb was launched at me because I "didn't know how to treat people." Even if that were true, that's not how you speak to a person who is going to employ you. Patia called another nurse who was off-duty who said she would come over after her appointment, by 10/11. At 2:30 no one had arrived and I was told she was still at her appointment from 8am. I called her and severed our agreement. I needed a dependable care provider for my mother. Plain and simple. I'm really sorry it didn't work out but it clearly wasn't a good fit.

Before she could be released to go home she needed clothes, her wallet, etc. She had been taken to the hospital by an ambulance and had no change of clothes, etc. Prior to my sister being discharged from the hospital Patia went to her house, got clothes, wallet, etc. She also arranged for my sister to be picked up from the hospital. Madeline, my sister's aide, took her shopping for groceries, made her bed and was just a regular powerhouse getting my sister set up. What more could you ask of a company. I can't say enough good about Aurelia's Angels. My sister will require an aide 7 days a week/6 hours a day. Patia is making that happen. If you are looking for a home health care company, I highly recommend Aurelia's Angels. Their pricing structure is very reasonable and the service and communication is top notch. I called Nisy and was lucky enough to get her the same day of my surgery. I was so happy they she was able to accommodate me especially since it was so last minute. She was an Angel. Once she picked me up from the hospital we went to go get my prescriptions as well as food . From there we came back to my hotel where she took my vitals and created a personal schedule for the times I needed to take medication. She was so supportive and made me feel super comfortable and was there monitoring me the whole time. She was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all my questions I had and also gave great advice that I can use during my recovery process . You can feel that she really cares about her patients well being which just makes the whole experience even better. I am so thankful to have had her to take care of me and would highly recommend her to anyone in need of recovery services during their cosmetic surgery journey.

I spoke to Nisy directly on the phone and explained what I was looking for. It sounded like she was driving and she told me she'd call me back and never did. I followed up with her via text a couple times and never received a response. The way you interact with clients tells a lot about how you run your business. Nisy was short on the phone with me and lied to me. This was a red flag and a sign that maybe I dodged a bullet. I couldn't imagine hiring this company to care for my health if the business owner doesn't have the decency to communicate back with potential clients.

I learned there is a big difference between an "agency" and a "registry". I was determined to select an agency, since the staff are employees of company, and receive benefits and compensation through them. With companies that are registries, the workers are not employees. They are contracted through the registry. On my list to contact was "Care on Call Home Healthcare." It was the best call I made. Hector Morales explained how background checks are completed on his staff, in all 50 states. That is unusually thorough, and I was impressed. They carry workman's compensation insurance for their staff, as well. Mr. Morales began his company in 2008, because he recognized there was a lack of quality agencies in our South Florida community. His own parents were aging, and required care at home. He was in the same situation many of us find ourselves in. WHEN i called the company i explained dad has inappropriate sexual behavior so they were aware of that. My father cant stand and if he grabs at them it is very easy to move back or ask him to stop. AS NURSES they should be aware that people with alzheimers have this behavior and be skilled nurses and know how to defuse the situation. One nurse slapped my fathers hand when he went to grab at her. I didnt like that and the nurses not staying the full time i am billed for isnt right either.
