We were headed to Chicago Music Exchange on N Lincoln. Our route was Cermak-McCormick to Clark/Lake, where we transferred to the Brown line for the Paulina train stop. The station gets crowded! We were there midday on Tuesday on one of the hottest days in June. Fortunately, the signage was clear and we got to the correct platform. Plus the wait for the train wasn't long. Chicago has a great public transportation train system.

クラーク駅はオヘア空港に向かうブルーラインの駅です。 空港に直通で便利ですが1時間はかかります。…read more地上にはシカゴ名物のループの駅もあります。 シカゴの真冬はミシガン湖の風も相まって射すような寒さ。 駅すぐのリバーウオークは真冬には川に流氷が現れます。 冬以外は観光船で大賑わいです。 昔の話ですが、地下鉄は冬でも暖房はなかったです。 真冬のある日、私は空港に行くため朝4時に地下鉄に乗ると、 男性がベンチに横たわって寝てました。 車両には他に男性ふたり、私は少し離れて座りました。 次の駅で身なりの良い40代位の男性と、 中学生位の男の子が乗ってきました。 確実に親子だとおもいます。 3つ先の駅で降りる寸前、父親は寝てる男性のズボンのポケットに いくらかのお札をねじ込んで降りていきました。 息子は父の姿を見て無言で後ろについて降りていきました。 当然、寝てる男性は気づいてます。 でも、それから1時間近く終点の空港まで微動だにしませんでした。 空港到着、皆が降りていきます。 彼はどうするのだろう。私は最後まで座席にいました。 すると、彼は身体を動かすでもなく、顔を動かすでもなく、 寝たままポケットのお金をだして、 片目で確認するとそのままポケットに戻し目を閉じました。 夜が明けるまで　地下鉄で往復して過ごすのだと思います。 このふたりの男性、住む世界は天と地ほど違うと思うけど、 私は二人に共通する人間の奥にある何かを感じずにはいられませんでした。 帰宅して夫に話すと、そうだねと一言。 昔のことですが、今も鮮明に残っている光景です。 私は数年前から夫に次いで年金生活者になりました。 結婚時からお金は葬式代と僅かなものを残すだけでよいと 若い頃からふたりでたくさん旅に出ました。 歳を重ね、夫と旅の思い出を語る時間が本当に幸せです。 これからも旅に出て、（今は夫はお留守番、土産話聞き役となる） この世を去る寸前まで、この素晴らしい世界を見て行きたいです。 WBC観戦、4年後また絶対に行きます。 その時はシカゴから長距離列車でマイアミへ。 目標ができました。 おしまい。

The tile matches the colors in the city flag and the red stripes are a cue that this is indeed the Red Line. The font and faint skyline add wonderful touches. What's bad: Platform floors are dirty and oily looking. "This floor looks clean enough to eat off of!" had never been said here, except maybe ironically. What's silly: You're in Chicago on Chicago street heading down into Chicago station. That's a whole lot of Chicago! Chicago, Chicago, that twaddlin', er toddlin', train... Do Doo Doo Doo! We were here three times. First time, when we arrived from Portland. We had dinner at the station…read more Then, we went outside to catch our Taxi, to our hotel. There were some restaurants, that were open still, and tables & chairs, like a food court at the mall. We have no problem finding seats/table. It was not hard to find a Taxi, but we didn't follow the sign, so it was our fault! There were helpful assistance, along the way, to direct us where the elevator or where to exit for Taxi. The 2nd time we were there, caught the Hiawatha Train to Milwaukee, with our group. While waiting there, at the Great Hall, the noise from the musician was so loud, it was almost UNBEARABLE! I had ear plugs, most of the time, since I have one good ear, I was sensitive to loud noises. This was worst than going to concerts. The 3rd time we were here, was when we caught the Empire Building back to Portland. We waited in a room for handicapped, families with children, old people like us. It was plenty of seats, it was 100% quieter, compared to the Great Hall, and the restrooms were just around the corner from us. We sat in the corner, where I can also charge my phone, until it's time to leave. It was convenient, since the outside door, are just steps away from the boarding car.

I used to take the train very often years ago and was quite familiar with the station back then. This time, however, if I hadn't been with my husband, who acted as my guide, I definitely would have been quite lost! I'll definitely do a little more homework before my next visit. When we passed through the Great Hall, I was still in awe, admiring the intricate details of this iconic Chicago landmark. The Great Hall features a 219-foot-long barrel-vaulted skylight that soars 115 feet above the ground. My advice to out-of-town travelers: allow at least 10 minutes while you're in the station to stop and take in the elaborate details of this historic landmark, built in the Beaux-Arts style. The stunning Great Hall was recently restored to its original 1925 glory and is truly worth a look. I also recommend taking time to admire some of the station's original elements that remain today, including the long oak benches, beautiful light fixtures, and chandeliers. One funny memory from decades ago: I used to sit on those oak benches in the Great Hall waiting for my train, and the announcements were always so muffled that I could never figure out what they were saying! This time around, I could actually hear the announcements quite clearly. Chicago Union Station handles approximately 120,000 passengers daily. This makes it the third busiest rail terminal in the United States, serving both Amtrak and Metra passengers. It's an important part of Chicago's history and a remarkable transportation hub. That's quite impressive!

I asked a gentleman who worked there & he was super nice and explained to me that the track would be announced over the loud speaker. On my return trip I saw a Metra person open up the door at the front of the car. I always sit up top, it wasn't busy (I was the only one up there) & I am nosy = I walked up to take a peek. He saw me & I explained I was just being nosy. He was awesome enough to let me in on the other side & gave me a brief explanation of what everything was. SO COOL!

The seats are comfortable. The conductors are professional, and most of all, the train is on time most of the time. I don't have to deal with expensive parking, and walk underground to the elevator to my office. Sweet! I go to the office twice a week and enjoy unwinding on the train. I prepare for meetings, too. The train takes you to the museums stop, Hyde Park, the south burbs, and the University of Chicago. It's the cheapest and most convenient way to visit the city.

Years later I lived in Oak Park by Harrison & Lyman & took the Blue Line from Austin Ave to downtown 3). Next I lived in Old Irving & picked up the Blue line from Irving Park to downtown 4). Finally I moved to Forest Glen where I have been for over 20 years. When I go downtown I drive to either the Old Irving or Montrose stop & take it downtown. Old Blue has served me for longer than I care to admit. It's fairly reliable of course it doesn't compare the transit systems in New York, Paris or Tokyo but it gets you from point A & somewhere in proximity to point B. I have relied on Old Blue for many years & has been there for me most of the time.

Riding the Harlem train on the Green line was a nice short and simple ride to Adam's/Wabash station where it's nice as you don't need a city pass or a ticket to ride just a credit card. Getting in and off the platform is simple using stairs or elevator is so quick and easy and getting to our destination took just minutes and is a wonderful mode of transportation that I would totally recommend when visiting the city of Chicago. You get the idea. UBER was $50+. LYFT was $60+. And lots of traffic delays. How about the L? A six minute walk from the hotel to the CTA Adams/Wabash station. A Good Samaritan helped me with my bags up the stairs. Watch the monitors. The train was a couple of minutes early. Tap your card. It was just $2.50 per person and the orange line goes directly to Midway. This is the last stop on the line. Plus, we got there at least 15 minutes earlier than the UBER/Lyft ETA. There is Hope. Interesting to see the suicide & crisis lifeline information at the station. Call, chat or text 988 if you need help. A shocking murder-suicide in Houston earlier this week, this sign really made me think. On this Mother's Day, hug your mom, your children, your grandparents a little tighter.

The Southshore ticket from Millennium Station to South Bend Is less than $15.00. The train was clean, no problem finding a seat. I was one of 6 people in the train car. They had many , I guess it was not a busy day. This saves me a when I visit my daughter in Chicago. The train ride was about 1/2 hour to 45 minutes longer than it took me by car. Great value !!!!!!! I save money so I can buy that bottle of Casamigos or not. . The South Shore has many stops in Chicago and stops in South Bend at the airport.

I was planning to get on the 715 weekday train. When I arrived at the station, I got notified OUTSIDE THE TRACKS that they were operating on the Weekend/Holiday schedule, and the earliest train wasn't till 9:20. I was notified nowhere in the app that they had decided to change the train schedule. Everyone in the train station has been walking around frantic, calling family members and friends, and not knowing what to do because South Shore train line decided to not update their customers that they had decided to change their freaking schedule. I am very frustrated and dozens of people are currently stranded here late into the night. this is not safe and this is affecting people's lives. You guys need to do a better job at notifying your customers when you change the entire train schedule. This is not convenient and I am very angry.

Grand station was the closest to the hotel where we stayed, so we often went to this one whenever we traveled to further neighborhoods in the city. It's a busy station and very reminiscent of the NYC subway.

The CTA in Chicago in general is pretty good for getting around, especially to and from the airport…read morein my opinion. I think it's slightly nicer than the NYC subway, but not by much. The platforms really look similar, and are pretty easy to navigate. There is usually a staff member in the help booth and they're pretty nice if you're confused (I had to ask one of them a question the first time I rode the CTA). Overall, I think the number of stops/lines available is pretty good; it's not quite as good as NYC or other countries e.g. Seoul, SK -- but if you're staying downtown for instance, you can get around pretty easily and to/from the airport with minimal walking to get to a nearby station and either connect to or go direct to the airport. I'm very glad the CTA is available as an option for visitors and folks who live here since parking is paid almost everywhere, and definitely limited (especially downtown!).
