Millennium Square is a treasure trove for all of those people watchers out there. Cup of coffee in hand, good book in the other, prime location on either a bench or the town hall steps, and just watch the world go by. Standing in the middle of the square and looking around the perimeters, it is easy to understand that this space was created for the attraction of people of all ages, and interests. Bars, Restaurants, cafes, Shopping, The Town Hall, the museum, statues, open space, all of the things that have people swarming to it like ants would to sugar. The open space and accessibility really does make it a favourite location for events in the city. The Christmas Market being a firm favourite; where else can you buy a hollowed out horn you can drink out of? Music playing and culture falling out of all the stands, be it in food, drink, trinkets, sweets, pastries, collectables, clothing or even cuddly toys, it's a real community bringer. With Christmas now behind us, Millennium Square is preparing itself for the big open of the Ice Cube; the large ice rink open to the public for about 12 weeks. It opens today in fact. So fingers crossed it all goes smooth and safe, and busy, t'would be a shame if the pants weather has ruined the fun for everyone. read more
