They have touch screen computers with many educational activities on the computer. They also have a kids play area with rotating toys. There is an outdoor fenced in area to explore or take a break in the shade. I have checked out many great books myself, audiobooks, and even book kits to get books to read along with others. All the librarians are so nice and helpful! We always love coming here!

ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center on Seventh Street downtown to name just three. Each has specialties that make them individuals. The South Park Regional had a fair collection of books and materials for the younger set, but really excelled at games and toys for engaging kids ... they even had a little cabin the kids could go in. The library itself was newish, clean and easy to get to, with available free parking ... although it is oftentimes full. Unlike some other libraries in the district, this one had more library things for kids to play with, but fewer library materials (books and puzzles). Still and all, nice library and recommended.

This library has so much potential. It is huge, and the children's section takes up a very large…read moreportion of the downstairs. There are tons of children's books, toys, activities, and interactive areas for kids, which is wonderful. The rest of the library also looked very nice, organized, and well maintained. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the children's area was extremely disappointing. The carpets were visibly dirty and stained in multiple places, and the entire children's section felt like it was overdue for a serious deep cleaning. I completely understand that an area used by young children gets a lot of traffic and will naturally have more wear and tear, but this seemed well beyond what I would consider normal. What made it even more surprising is that I've been to other Charlotte Mecklenburg Library locations, and I have not seen their children's areas looking like this. The difference in cleanliness was very noticeable. For a space specifically designed for babies and young children who are sitting, crawling, touching toys, and playing directly on the floor I really feel like cleanliness should be one of the highest priorities. It's especially unfortunate because the rest of this library looked very nice and well cared for. Since the children's area makes up such a large portion of the downstairs, I really hope more attention is given to routinely deep cleaning the carpets, floors, toys, and play areas. This could easily be an amazing library for families, but the condition and lack of cleanliness in the children's section made me uncomfortable letting a child play freely there.

The location is problematic because it's in a neighborhood off the main road in Waxhaw which would confuse some. When I went into the library, I noticed the lighting was poor and the selection of books and other materials was severely lacking quantity and quality. With a library this small, it's difficult to find a well known author or title by African Americans or other minorities. I'm not insinuating that this is done on purpose because I believe the county or city thinks that the demographics of Waxhaw, Marvin wouldn't be interested in these genres. I did find other books that catered more to a certain demographic of a certain political affiliation. If you're wanting a better library overall and you live in Waxhaw, I'd suggest going to the main library in Monroe. You can thank me later

There's a good selection of DVDS for such a tiny library, and its children section is half the library. A town's library is key to the town's educational success. Vote in November for the referendum of Waxhaw building a much needed larger and up-to-date library for the sake of our children's future!!! Early reading is paramount to a better education! My son started reading at the age of three and has had amazing results from it. It's thanks to a great, well stocked library in Glastonbury, CT! Obviously nobody answers the phone, but thats why you go in since you'll have to regardless of what it is your asking. This is as fast as a post office gets, service is not slow by any means. Never had any issues here, unlike other local branches who can't seem to do much of anything. The Monroe location has the worst group of employees I've ever encountered, so this was a very pleasant surprise.

It was erected in 1970 by the Waxhaw Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. It is marker number 29-12. World War II army camp, trained 13,000 engineers. Named for R.C.A.F. pilot Frank Sutton of Monroe, killed December 7, 1941. Camp was here." Online, there is more information. " Soon after the United States entered World War II in December 1941, North Carolina assumed a prominent role in preparing the country's armed forces for duty overseas. Along with Camp Butner, Camp Davis, and Fort Bragg, Camp Sutton was among the largest military training facilities in North Carolina (and the nation) during the war." "Camp Sutton was organized as a training site for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and opened as a temporary "tent" camp in the spring of 1942. The base covered 2,296 acres about three miles east of Monroe in Union County. Located on U.S. Highway 74, Sutton was naturally divided into two halves by Richardson's Creek, and a railroad line also ran through the camp." "The installation was named in honor of Frank H. Sutton, a Monroe native who was killed over Libya in 1941 while serving as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force." "Camp Sutton was deactivated in January 1945, but the last of the German POWs were not shipped out until the spring of 1946 (nearly a year after the war ended).
