By the time I got there it was hour before it started. I saw the cassette tapes on there worship service and try not to spend all my money. After worship we all when down to the fellowship hall for desert. I was going to Calvary Baptist Church and gone to First Baptist Church on Sunday worship service. I found that Calvary was worshiping like first baptist church years ago. Enjoying the service. I part my time between church and go a part of a member ship. Only thing I can't vote in meeting. Five year ago I join the church. An getting a temp pastor Randy Lee Ashcroft and enjoy his service for one year and left to received the new pastor. Three year later we are looking for a new pastor. Over all the new pip organ. Plus the new parking lot. And the new building next door. How know what next. I still enjoy this church and have many friends. Looking word in coming back to the church

My heart was touch and I began to smile. It brings back the memory of how the first time I found this Church on Christmas eve 2004. The same excitement and peacefulness I feel today while listening to the message of God through the Pastor sermon with what I feel back then. Of how at that time I feel that God has speaking to me through His servant during the sermon, I experience same way today. God has reveal His love to me through the message I hear today to restore my life and to bring me back closer to Him. It is so good to be back after sometime missing attending the sermon at this Church. It is a good feeling to be in the House of God and to see some familiar faces. The First Baptist Church of Washington DC has done a lot of good deeds for the community around it. This Church has been involved with helping the unfortunate, such as homeless people by providing food and clothing and has provide shelter to them. And the most important thing is every time I come back to this Church, I feel home. I feel I am among my family. I can see their beautiful soul embracing my presence at Church. As I usually do after the sermon, I go mingle with some of the Church member at the fellowship room to have a fun conversation and enjoying my cake and yummy coffee that been poured into those fabulous china tea cups. Those pretty cups, my favorites! :) From time to time, I attend the Church splendid luncheon, as well as attending the classic but fun concert at this Church. And within the next two weeks, on October 24th at 4 pm, Thomas Pandolfi, the classical pianist, Juilliard music school graduate, will held his concert here. And I am planning to attend. :) As much as I enjoy and love a modern mega church, the same feel I have about this Classic and elegant Church. I feel home. Giving me this wonderful feeling, and remind me of this lovely worship song... As for me God came and found me As for me He took home As for me He gave me a family And I never walk alone God is in the house, there is no doubt God is in the house, can't keep Him out As for me and my house, we're gonna to serve the Lord! :)

Co. Coalition for the Homeless ("MCCH"). I would love to be able to write that this is a wonderful organization that takes pride in the fact that hundreds of people are helped by it's programs each week, but I can not. The truth is that it is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization that holds contracts with and through the County's government. The employees at the office on Gude Drive became incensed when I wrote on behalf of my friend, whom was given off-label dosing of two dangerous psychotropic drugs: "Seroquel" and "Depakote" allegedly to help her with post traumatic stress disorder. The drugs caused a severe reaction and she developed a rash on her face and body, a kidney infection and began to slur her words when speaking. She also had a slow unsteady gait and an affect that was completely at odds with her usual way of behaving. Concerned after she called me and spoke almost incomprehensibly and with slurred words from the Montgomery County Crisis Center, where she had been referred by the MCCH, I called and wrote both agencies. I followed up with a back-and-forth about the individual with MCCH and other county agencies over a two year period. The MCCH personnel who were my friend's "case managers" were unconcerned with either her severe reactions to the improperly administered drugs or by the fact that I was writing them because I was troubled by what I had witnessed. They flatly refused to hold forth even a flimsy excuse for the alarming and catastrophic incident; furthermore they did not accept responsibility for something that they had clearly initiated and implemented. I learned a story of a corrupt and often confused group of individuals whom form the backbone of the organization; they seem disorganized, disinterested and disinclined to assist those whom the organization's mission statement purports the MCCH has dedicated itself to help. I saw mediocre performances by employees, programs that consist of virtually no discernibly helpful goals or practical protocols, and a good deal of obfuscation about where money collected by this nonprofit from it's sponsors and donors is actually being used. When questioned about their unorthodox and murky practices, reps from this agency become hostile in a manner that would be truly frightening if it weren't for the fact that they don't seem able to comprehend the illegal nature of some of their written statements. They wrote me several threatening letters that I promptly turned over to my attorney who in turn, wrote them of my option to press criminal charges or file a civil case against them. They hastily ceased writing me threats; but simply refused to answer my questions about the health and safety of my friend. This from a public nonprofit organization that operates through donations and contracts with local government, which equates ultimately to county-residents tax dollars. I would not recommend this agency as a worthwhile recipient of any donations and even less as a nonprofit truly dedicated to helping the homeless of Montgomery County; Many of those running the place are far more interested in how many minutes it is until 4:30 pm or in misdirecting the vulnerable homeless individuals. In some cases that includes collecting a third of homeless people's monthly social security or disability income and using it for questionable purposes (deemed "overhead" costs on it's annual form 990 tax returns.

According to Exterminator professionals the Director of Programs Megan Goffney ignores their pest control needs knowing rat holes complaints were made by local SGI members. The poor conditions of infestation within the walls & floors were so disgusting in June they kick women out for complaining to the owners. If their rat issues continue to persist or they refuse to get their standards up to County Code they risk the action of NBC4 media investigations if they don't clean up the trash outside the grounds & get their buildings in compliance they'll probably be condemned. They use Federal Grant money like faucet water to pay their wages & salaries instead of keeping the living environments of their buildings under code. They put the health of their residents at risk to diseases just for the sake of having a job.

I became interested in their mission which was to provide safe housing and life skills to homeless families due to domestic violence situations and soon started volunteering every Monday afternoon in their children and teen's room while their mothers attended professional development sessions. I am not going to lie -- it was tough work! I was a 24 year old girl working with a wide range of children ages 2 - 16 with all different personalities and needs all by myself. I would spend my afternoons cuddling children, attempting to play football, teaching the Soulja Boy, and picking up blocks. But after coming in week after week, I found my groove and found myself falling in love with these children and their families. I actually tasted my first bite of daal here and it is now the first dish I order whenever I go to an Indian or Pakistani restaurant because one of the mothers at the shelter used to cook me an extra plate whenever I was there. I unfortunately had to leave the program because of time constraints but I am writing this review in hopes that someone who is looking to give a little piece of their heart finds this place. These children need stable mentors and role models to look up to, especially males. If you want to hear more about my experience or have questions feel free to reach out to me.
