I hired the hall yesterday the 11th may for my daughters 1st birthday party. I paid for the hall a few weeks previous and my booking form was completed, and I even spoke to Peter, who is part of the premises team on Thursday the 9th may to confirm everything.
I am REALLY disappointed , I hired the hall from 2pm-6pm. The party started from 3, so that allowed me an hour to set the hall up. At half past 2, no body had arrived with the keys, so after contacting the slimming world number which was on the notice board outside the hall, the lady texted me the number for the caretaker. I called him, and he said he wasn't on duty, and was not in the area at the time but would do his best to try and find out who was on duty, He telephoned me back, and explained there is a spare set of keys with the security man at hove town hall. So my partner had to drive down to hove town hall, My children were distraught as they were excited about the party, and then had to leave to collect the keys. Once arriving at hove town hall the security guard explained to my partner it wasn't even logged in the book which has the bookings in!
I also had to have my bouncy castle delivered (which was meant to be collected) Which incurred a fee.
Anyway i finally got into the hall at 3.15. An hour and 15 minutes after schedule. I had guests arriving, having to stand outside in the cold with there small children. It was a real kerfuffle, we didn't know where anything was. Had no caretaker to explain procedures etc, fire safety bla de bla.
I would not reccomend hiring this hall, the whole thing was a sham and totally ruined my daughters 1st birthday.
Totally disgusted in Brighton and Hove city council for allowing this to happen.
