Mildred's popped up on Google Maps while we were passing through on a family road trip on Saturday. I'm glad it did. Very friendly service, good food (not just by seemingly "middle of nowhere" standards), and a unique and warm vibe. I had a medium-sized ribeye, baked sweet potato, salad bar and the complimentary hush puppies. The steak was of the thinner variety, but still precisely as I ordered it (medium rare). I also tasted my son's blackened catfish - very good as well. Rest of the family's food was well-received. This would be a basic 4-star comfort food place in a mid-sized city, or even maybe 3-4 stars in a larger city. For this area, for what it is, and for a unique trip back to slower, simpler times, I can't find a flaw in anything. So 5 stars here feels right. read more

Hands down, the best southern food restaurant in Northern Mississippi. The fried okra and hushpuppies were out of this world. We went after church on Sunday. Buffet style $12 a person, includes drinks and dessert. Black eyed peas, cornbread, fried chicken, fried catfish, greens all 10 out of 10. And lest I forget, devilled eggs - oh boy!
