I spoke to Dr Segal about the TMS treatments she offered for depression. Her office was very…read morepleasant and convenient. She explained that it only works 60% of the time and I would have to come 5 times a week for six weeks. She said it would be most effective if I am consistent and don't take breaks. I cleared my calendar and committed to the treatments. Halfway through, without notice or explanation, she told me she would be gone for a month. I told her I had committed to this time and she said only that "it couldn't be helped." I asked if someone could cover her and she said "no." We would resume when she came back and she would add extra sessions. I told her I had already made other plans and she just shrugged and repeated "it couldn't be helped ." Clearly, her time was more valuable than mine and, as a patient, I came second. I've never known any doctor, especially a mental health doctor, who didn't have a backup in case of emergency and would abandon a depressed patient. We finished treatment and it didn't help me at all. She said she didn't know if it was because of the break or if I was part of the 40% who didn't respond. She said we could wait a while and start over without any breaks and i said "no thanks." It would mean another huge commitment of time for me and more income for her. I found her practice to be very unprofessional bordering on malpractice and would not recommend her.

I don't sleep during the day anymore and I now walk about 2 miles a day and I have lost 97 lbs from me in the picture with the machine on my head! I love Dr. Kevin and Dr. Jo. They worked to manage my meds very hard and when I emailed them, they, or someone from the office, would email or call me back in about 30 minutes or less. I think I have been seeing them for my meds for 6 or 7 years and I fully recommend them. Previous psychiatrists I had before Dr. Oklan were nowhere are skilled as he is. Experience and expertise go a long way. I am stable and in great care in regards to my psychiatric needs, thanks to him. He listens well and uses what he hears and sees to make good judgement on the next step forward for me. 5 stars all the way. He's the best in the business.

Edward Oklan was my son's psychiatrist in 2013 and 2014. My son had schizophrenia and was…read moreprescribed 200mg higher than the international consensus for safe dosages of Seroquel (generic form). For another patient, Oklan told me he prescribed 2000 mg daily, which is 1200mg over the safe dosage consensus. Both dosages were well over the 600 mg highest dosage tested by the pharmaceutical manufacturer of Seroquel. Since that time, I discovered that Dr. Oklan has received payments from the drug company for prescribing Seroquel since before 2014; averaging around $110,000 a year while the drug was still in patented form. My son committed suicide one year after being put on antipsychotic drugs alone. During 2013 through 2015, there was no suicide ideation or risk of suicide put on the drug information sheet, nor were we warned about this risk from taking the drug. I believe that accepting payments from the drug company strongly influences clinical decision making and is unethical and irresponsible.

I was suicidal as a teen, and in fact,…read moretried to kill myself twice, and yet intuitively I knew it wasn't emotionally safe to discuss this with Dr Robin, so I didn't. She always always talked about herself in session. Because I was so young and she was the only therapist I had ever had, I didn't know any better, and thought it was "normal" to feel worse after therapy, not better. After I graduated from high school and was forced to find a new therapist down in southern california, where I was attending college, that's only when I realized just how fucked up my "therapy" with Dr Robin was. Dr Robin is a shining example in my mind why we should NOT dismiss or poo poo life coaches and healers just because they aren't LCSW/PhDs/PsyD's or whatever qualification you feel is legit, and how "trained and qualified" individuals, such as Dr Robin (who is a PhD) can truly cause great harm.

I had been to therapy before, but not for such a prolonged amount of time. Dr. Brown has been an integral part of my emotional and spiritual recovery. She is warm, focused, and invested in her patients' healing. She uses EMDR which is necessary/helpful when dealing with trauma. It can be a frightening process, but helps get to the heart of what's causing the trauma. I always felt safe in her care, and would recommend her to anyone looking for some really deep therapy. A couple things to note: be sure to review her cancellation policy. And she did not accept my insurance, so treatment can hit your wallet pretty hard. But it's worth it.

It's amazing how within minutes of talking to Dr Freed (or just Roger - he says they are the same person :). I have this sense that he knows exactly how I think and of the nature of my struggles. I instantly felt very safe, understood and comfortable. In my experience it's been pretty rare to have that kind of connection. Through a combination of medical/scientific explanation and anecdotally from experience he really succinctly describes how these "inefficiencies" arise and cause problems when approaching work tasks. As mentioned by the other reviewer he focuses on the behavioral tips and tricks to steer clear of ADD/ADHD pitfalls and find a sustainable productivity. He describes how to "make deals" with yourself to start difficult tasks. He definitely has an element of compassion and to allow and embrace the creativity and pull that comes with the ADHD experience - sometimes aspects that are treated negatively in a "get things done" attitude. Kind of: Take it as a gift and then also here are some ways to optimize for output. It's a fun balance to work toward. I'm looking forward to continuing my visits!

I've never met anyone with this deep an understanding of ADD/ADHD in both kids and adults…read more I've been through four psychiatrists, all excellent ones. Dr. Freed is the first I've met who truly specializes in ADD. To use his words, medication is only 10% of the solution. The rest is up to the systems and tricks and compensating habits that the patient needs to employ in order to achieve the highest possible level of executive function. I can't speak to whatever else he treats, but I can't imagine that there's anyone better for ADD.

Dr. Wolfe, for reasons I'll likely never know, nearly cost me my life. He prescribed medications…read moreand failed to warn me about other OTC medication and food interactions. When I confronted him about that, after a team of ER doctors spent hours on me and I had a six day stay in ICU, he said I should have googled the medication. So I did. And I learned that he was to have been conducting quarterly blood tests. He never did a single blood test. That was the most dramatic and life-threatening of his errors or misses in my care, but there are others. Fortunately, I started relying heavily on specialists and they caught most of the things that Dr. Wolfe should have been doing, catching, and acting on. I would not trust him or any Practicioner at One Medical with my health. They seem too focused on attracting new members and securing insurance reimbursements, in my opinion, to have the bandwidth to adequately care for the needs of their existing patients.

First let me say - I am and "experienced" patient (17 major surgeries and many other tests and…read morebiopsies over the past 20 years), so I'm really tired and VERY skeptical of doctors and the medical profession in general. I recently switched from 15 years with Kaiser, back to Blue Cross, so I had to replace about 10 docs and thank goodness for Dr. Wolfe! I met him last week for the first time and I was SO impressed. He's very knowledgeable, he's not intimidated by my questions (or all the "stuff" going on with me), he's open minded, he was a pain doc for 6 years (so he gets THAT part of my treatment) and overall, he's a very likable guy - I can't recommend him more highly (keeping my fingers crossed that I'm not putting him on a "too soon" pedestal - but I don't think so). The ONLY downsides are the whole "Med One" $200 annual fee for "special" things that really, all docs are offering now-a-days, and the fact that Med One isn't on either of the 2 main electronic medical systems in my area (UCSF and Sutter), so I have to make sure they get all my labs and doc notes from EVERY other doc....which in my personal case, is a big PITA. That being said, I really feel like I have a good doc now who can be the leader of my team and really help coordinate all my issues - before, it was only me, bringing things to docs and trying to figure it out on my own, so YEA!!!!
