I've been going to this location for years. I decided to visit them yesterday because they are one of the few that are open at 7am on a Saturday. I brought in my large load of plastics and aluminum cans in at 8am. No line that trails off Main St! Another reason why early mornings are key! The guys always help me empty out my car. They're very pleasant and they even ask me if I want to keep my bags. They separate your bags for you in their massive machine. I didn't print out my coupon, but I'm just happy to recycle! I had about 8 bags and combined getting over $52 was just an added bonus. They make you print your name and sign the receipt. If you're lucky they'll give you a $2 bill. Love these! They also take wine bottles, aluminum scraps, & more. I do have my bags separated already - this will simplify everything! I was in and out in minutes. The location is right next to Smart & Final. There was miscommunication when I called and asked if I could bring in a catalytic converter I pulled off of my daughter's car they said yes, but I had to take it to this location. When I showed up there was confusion on whether or not they could or could not take it. In fact, one guy adamantly said they would not take it and another guy said he would as long as I just wanted the cost of the steel which I was fine with I just wanted it out of my yard. however, the other guy was still trying to cause problems and I didn't even care if they took it and re-sold it at a state facility. The fact that they said they could take it until I showed up is what pissed me off plus turns out this location only takes big stuff their other location, which is very small but busy takes all of the other stuff like cans bottles, etc. read more

Drive up, they unload your stuff, weigh it, hand you a ticket. Stop by the window, present your ticket and get paid. A couple times I've seen a line that might take 15 minutes or so but the last couple dozen times I've been there it's been less than 5 minutes read more

New location and the same process. Get your cans, plastic, and bottles and turn it into cash. The experience is pretty smooth but there can be lines at time but it is to be expected as the other folks also want to turn their recyclables into dollars. It is easy and fair. I say bring gloves and another bag to place the plastic bags you us. Gloves for emptying your receptacles so you don't have to worry about sticky smelly finger from old soda or beer. Unload, sort, and collect your money... it's as easy as that (well maybe you have to wait a bit but it is time well spent in my opinion). Happy recycling! read more

Haven't been here in quite sometime now. The downfall... is havent been here since COVID-19 and the employee who helped had only been their 6 months... ALL recycling MUST be pre-divided or separated upon entrance. The employee was nice and gave us some old wired containers to separate the bottles and cans in. However ALL my glass was not taken... no wine bottles and no other glass with the recycle logo on it. I was told "must have logo" ... ive never had issues at my other locations. They pointed to the glass they do accept (beer only) This is convenient as a drive thru recycle place, however you must keep an eye on your car while you keep an eye on your recycling. Its a hassle unless you have 2 people with you. It takes AWHILE to get in and get out. Thought I would give them a try because we use to come here and use the coupons from the booklet in the mail. After emptying a large storage unit, we had tons of cardboard boxes we needed to get rid of. We disassembled them to lay flat in our SUV and drove to Mike's Recycling. When we drove into the lot, some nice guys met us and unloaded the cardboard in a jiffy. Then, they halted the incoming cars so we could get out of the parking lot without delay. This operation is the model of efficiency! Of course, we weren't expecting to get paid for the cardboard. We're just glad we found a place to quickly get rid of all that cardboard! read more

This is a great recycling center. They have staff helping you out so you don't have to worry about getting your hands dirty unless the bags you bring your recyclables in are dirty and leaking (I don't get why people bring it like that. Everyone should empty out containers at the very least). Buy back rates seem fair. No complaints there. I went on a Saturday so I can't speak for how it is on weekdays, but like a lot of the other reviews say, expect long lines and a wait. I don't know how they accommodate people coming on foot or bike when traffic is bad. Would I come here again? Depends on how much time I have on my hands. read more

OMG!!! This place will crush cans into cute little blocks of aluminum, like cans go into boxes!!! Kinda like the movie Wall-e. Plus you get little green bills for your finds- kinda neat ngl. Probably the best recycling center I have ever been to. Decided to come her after the recycling center in Bonita had closed down. At first glance, it can seem a bit confusing due to the line of cars and lack of signs for direction. However, the service was quick and I was out within 20 minutes. You enter turn into recycling center off of main street, and get in the line of cars. Then, you'll be helped by one of the workers who will then proceed to take your recycling out of your vehicle. Then, you turn your vehicle around and wait to be given a ticket which you will use to claim your cash at the main office. What I liked about this recycling center was that if your recycling isn't already separated, the center has a machine that will do it for you! Great service and easy recycling! read more

It's a long drive for me, but the guys are amazingly fast and genuinely kind! I fill my car with bags of plastic bottles and off we go!

Great service! Just pull in, then make sure you turn your car around so it's facing toward the street. A worker will come to help unload and sort your recyclables for you. They're also pretty quick, which is great! Another guy will weigh the recyclables and write down the weights on a piece of paper. You then take that piece of paper to the little shack/office to get your money. Overall, I was in-and-out within about 10 minutes. Will return! read more

Tuesday am loaded up my truck and when I got there I had to wait in line. It was well worth the wait. I like how the guys take charge and help you out. This place is AWESOME! It is hands down the best recycling place around. I recycle the bottles and cans from a construction site I work on in Otay Mesa, and I have been to some less-than-impressive places. Most don't have good parking or any space to drive, you have to separate bottles and aluminum yourself, and the people sometimes aren't friendly. Also, a lot of the RePlanets have closed down and you don't know until you get there. You just drive up, they take your bags for you, separate the cans and bottles for you, and hand you your slip. Every person here is friendly, the only person's name I remember is Marcel (as I'm new to location) and he is awesome! Tip: Go in the morning, it does get very crowded in the afternoons. read more

Tried this place out when it was recommended by family. My mom needed to get rid of her pile of cans and plastics. We took her bags of recyclables here. Theres a line to pull up to, which the workers do address each person waiting rather than going one by one. Apparently you do need to separate your recyclables by type (aluminum vs plastics) before coming here. A worker told my mom this but since she was a first timer they took her stuff as is. For about 7-8 trash bags worth she got about $30. read more

Basically have to bust a U-turn just to head toward the exit. Eventually I was able to recycle, but was hit with a 3 day hold to be able to get my money. 3 day wait just for $20!?
