Update - 5 years later I received a message from Mike the owner regarding his failure to return my $1k deposit after he failed to return to install the garage door. He recently had a moment of integrity and acknowledged taking the deposit and agreed to finally refund my money. But he quickly transitioned back to lies a few weeks later and still has not return the deposit. Refer to the updated screen shots of the discussion. Do not use this unethical business. The owner is significantly lacking in character. I will update this review monthly until I receive my deposit back. I found Mike on Yelp (this same page) and he's still using the same phone number that listed on Yelp. I still have an entire text string with his same business number from 2021. Refer to the attached photo of a portion of the text string with his business phone number clearly listed. Fast forward to 2026, he sends a Yelp message agreeing to "make things right" after my most recent review. Photo attached. Now he's publicly lying about not having anything on record. I have a rental property in Hesperia. The tenant called me at 245 pm in the afternoon. I was able to get a hold of Mikes Garage at 3pm. They showed up to the property at 330 and were done by 3:45. I reached out to have my weatherstripping replaced as the old one had come apart in the top left corner. I was given a quote of $175. Wednesday June 31st "Chris" arrived and got to work promptly. With 20 minutes the new weatherstripping was completed with a caveat-The top portion of the weatherstrip was not flush with my garage door leaving a bigger gap than the old one. Chris informed me that whoever installed my garage installed the wrong size door to the track or something of that nature and that that is the reason why there is a gap. Irregardless of that information they(whoever installed the garage) still managed to make the weatherstripping flush with the garage. Why couldn't you? After a while I got on the phone with the "business owner" Mike, who informed me that the necessary remedy to the situation would be to take a few 2 x 4s & install them to the upper frame of the home and then install the weather stripping to that... I told Mike I wasn't comfortable paying for the job as it's not complete Mike told me I can withhold pay, theyll look into how much more the additional work will be and that I can pay it when everything is complete during the phone call conversation I informed Mike of how unhappy I was with my service and that my review would reflect that he stated " well this call is being recorded anyways from Yelp" I was instantly confused for numerous reasons. At what point did I ever consent to having this phone call recorded? Also Since when does Yelp record phone calls? When I asked Mike his response was "this a yelp provided phone number so the calls automatically record and permission doesn't need to be given. So yelp supersedes California state law? I handed the phone back and told Chris to get back to me with another quote for the now needed additional work- later that day I was told it would be $20 additional. My main issues are: whether the garage is the wrong size or not the previous installers made the weatherstrip work without the needed 2x4, why can't you? I would have preferred a more thorough examination of the garage upon arrival so that way I wouldn't have been so caught off guard by the additional work. Comments were made stating how heavy and old my garage is- now forgive me if I'm wrong but is servicing garages not your profession? Heavy, light, old, new. You should be proficient and well versed in all types. The whole recorded call thing was an absolute insult to my intelligence, I took the time to look up State Laws & reach out directly to yelp themselves, they stated something something quite opposite of what mike said - not sure whether that was meant to frighten me or prevent this review from happening but I'm unmoved either way. 06/03 someone arrived installed the wood and weatherstrip. The single, larger-than-average torsion spring (compared to the usual double-spring arrangement) on my Martin garage door system suddenly snapped while the door was closed at around 9:30pm. My truck was now hostage inside the garage because the full weight of the door prevented opening it manually. I immediately went out onto Yelp, hoping that I would get a quote response the next morning. Mike responded by email nearly immediately, even at that late hour which was impressive. He needed to know certain information about spring size, etc. After I muddled through trying to get that info by getting up on a ladder to take measurements, he gave me a general quote for the spring replacement. Because the door and its hardware was going on 20 years old, I decided to inquire about getting the whole thing replaced (excluding a relatively new door opener which was working fine). I had wanted a brown insulated door just like the one I had but unfortunately, the supplier could not provide one for another two weeks. Mike was able to reserve a brown non-insulated one. He came out the following evening to take measurements and set early Saturday a.m. up with me (two days later). True to his word, he was there right at 7am and had everything installed before 10am.
