Lots of the most popular varieties (like honeycrisp) were pretty picked over, but we still found more apples than we wanted to carry, and our kids mostly had fun running in giant loops around the farm. It was sunny and lovely and great to be outside. There's not a lot more to it than that. I gather it's now popular for apple picking orchards to have roller coasters or petting zoos, and I have no idea why. They don't have those things here. They have a tractor that will take you in a circle around the property, and they sell hot, freshly-fried apple cider donuts that are really great -- they tasted more like apple cider than any cider donut I've eaten. By the time we got home, our son was asking when we could go back. We plan to make it a yearly tradition.

The prices are fair and you can also purchase by the bushel. Folks are nice and there are tractors to take you out to the fields. You can score fresh baked goods, frozen pies, meats and some canned items as well. Definitely bring water and a hat on sunny days!

We stopped by Garwood Orchards for raspberry and strawberry picking. We purchased the smallest…read morecontainer for raspberries and a large container for strawberries, spending a total of $45. After a short tractor ride to the fields, we started with the raspberries and were able to fill our container in about 20 minutes. We then moved on to the strawberry fields. After spending an hour and a half in blistering heat, I was only able to fill about one-quarter of the container because there were virtually no strawberries available. Everyone picking alongside us seemed equally disappointed and frustrated that containers were being sold despite the lack of fruit in the fields. What made the experience even more frustrating was the no-refund policy, which meant we were out the money regardless of the poor conditions. I understand that crop availability can vary, but customers should be informed when fields are nearly picked over or offered a refund or alternative. Unfortunately, this experience was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend this place to others.

If you have only tasted apples from the grocery you are missing out. They are picked too soon,…read moresmaller, gassed while shipping to turn red, and waxed - no flavor except for overly sweet varieties and usually too hard in texture. Real apples picked at the correct time from an orchard are so incredibly packed with flavor, with no wax, are so worth a trip! This orchard has lots of variety and the apples are incredible!! They are very nice people, explain about the different varieties and let you sample. This orchard has a range of varieties you can't find elsewhere. We bought three varieties and they all taste incredible and just the right texture and big too! They also have a couple varieties of pears, including a small gourmet pear. You won't believe the flavor! I would recommend this orchard over many others we have visited. They take extra care with everything and select the best quality for sale.

There Are also fun activities for kids (pony rides, bouncy house, corn maze, etc). Parking is easy and the activities are only a couple dollars which is great.  The owners are very friendly and it is simply a great place to explore.
