Excellent piano technician -- highly recommend Joel at United Piano…read more This review really starts with a little backstory. We have a Schafer & Son SS-51 baby grand piano, and it is my teenage son Jaeden's main piano. After having the piano tuned by another tuner, we were disappointed to discover that several sticking keys we had specifically asked to have looked at were still not working properly. After several attempts to get the issue resolved and not receiving a response, we decided it was time to find another piano technician. Since this is Jaeden's main piano, he actually did the research himself and found Joel Lane with United Piano. We decided to give Joel a call, and I'm very glad we did. Joel showed up at our house exactly as scheduled. From the beginning, he was respectful, professional, and took the time to inspect the piano and explain to us what he was going to do. The difference in the level of attention and workmanship was immediately noticeable. Joel meticulously disassembled the piano keys and began working through the piano, doing the necessary tuning, adjustments, and maintenance. I watched his progress intermittently, and it was clear to me that he was actually getting into the piano and addressing the mechanical issues rather than simply tuning the notes. Joel spent just over three hours working on the piano. During the process, he also noticed that some of the keys were still off from the previous tuning and made the necessary adjustments. When he finished, Jaeden sat down and played the piano. He was thrilled with how everything felt and sounded. Most importantly, the issues that had brought us to Joel in the first place were properly addressed. As someone who doesn't know a great deal about piano repair or tuning, I really appreciated that Joel took the time to explain what he was doing and then actually took the time necessary to properly maintain the piano. This was a completely different experience from our previous service, and it gave me much more confidence that our baby grand was being properly cared for. When it's time to have the piano tuned again, I already told Joel that we'll be calling him. Thank you, Joel, for taking care of Jaeden's piano! We will definitely be using United Piano again.

I found Master's Touch Piano Service on Google and decided to give Vincent Blake a call because I…read moreneeded my baby grand piano tuned and wanted him to look at a few sticking keys. Vincent answered the phone and, because of a cancellation, was able to come out the same day. He showed up as scheduled, which I appreciated. I don't know a lot about piano tuning, so I was expecting him to inspect the piano carefully, especially since I specifically asked him to look at some keys that were sticking. Most of the tuning was done using an iPad program. Vincent was very talkative and spent quite a bit of time talking about various things while working. He did wiggle and check the sticking keys briefly, but then continued with the tuning. The tuning took about an hour and a half, and I paid him $180 through Zelle. The piano is my teenage son's main piano, so when he came home from school, he was excited to play it after having it tuned. Unfortunately, he immediately noticed that the same keys were still sticking exactly as they had before. The issue had not been addressed. We contacted Vincent right away and explained what happened. He told us that he was waiting for some special piano oil and said he would take care of the problem once he received it, which he said would be in several days. We agreed to wait. A week went by without hearing anything, so I called him. He answered and said he was still waiting for the oil. A few days later, I tried calling again, but there was no answer and his voicemail was full, so I couldn't leave a message. I tried calling several more times with no response. I then went to his website and sent an email explaining the situation. I never received a response to that either. At this point, I felt like I was being ignored and decided to have another piano technician look at the piano. I also wanted a professional opinion on the sticking keys that I had originally asked Vincent to inspect. To be fair, Vincent did show up on time and did tune the piano. However, based on my experience, the tuning felt like the minimum service necessary, and the issue I specifically asked him to look at was never resolved. The biggest disappointment was the lack of follow-up and communication afterward. I paid $180 expecting not only a tuning, but also for the sticking keys to be properly evaluated. Instead, I ended up having to contact another piano technician. I'm sharing my experience so other piano owners can make their own informed decision. My experience with the initial service was acceptable, but the follow-up and customer service afterward were very disappointing.

I called them back later that day and the next day, the manager did not bother to get on the phone with me but was relaying messages to Megan on the phone. They assured me they would be calling me back. The next day. I received a text message letting me know it would be six more weeks and the manager would update me. I had yet to talk to a manager or receive an apology. I texted back that it was unacceptable since they already had it 6 weeks and they lost it. They said they would try to get it done as soon as possible. Two weeks later I was informed the manager would be picking up the instrument and would contact me. A week later Gabe contacted me and was very apologetic for the situation. This was the first apology that I had received. Gabe is the reason this review got one star. He went above and beyond to apologize, communicate and called me more than once. I did get the instrument back. However, when I went to go pick it up, Megan acted like she did not want to help me or recognize that I was in the store. I paid over $300 to have the instrument fixed and my daughter informed me not all the pads were replaced. Very disappointed in this music store and the customer service received. I will be using a different music store in the future
