He was one of the most pleasant, kind and honest contractor I ever met. My condo is a rental and the tenant, particular about people in his home, loved the experience as well. we were both so happy with him the the work he did. He removed an area of drywall and replaced it with a new sheet, patched and painted the room. Just beautiful. I would highly recommend him. I also though his pricing was very fair and spot on. I wish him the most success!

I hired William Bullock of Uncle Buck's Painting & Restorations to do a paint job for me as a…read moresubcontractor. He asked me for a 50% down payment, which I paid him via Zelle. Unfortunately, this was a bad decision as he basically ran off with my money, and did not do the job. What happened was that my customer had a deadline for the job to be done, and William didn't order the paint in time, so the customer canceled the job. He said he was waiting for my down payment before ordering the paint, so I don't fully blame him for the paint not arriving in time. The main reason I'm dissatisfied is that he did not refund my down payment after the job was canceled. We're talking about over $2,000 here! He basically returned the paint he ordered and kept the money. I tried asking him nicely on multiple occasions to give me the down payment back, and he refused at first. After asking him multiple times, he agreed to give me the money back in installments. This was not ideal for me, but I agreed to accept the payment in installments because he said money was tight for him. The only problem is that it has been months now, and he has only given me one installment of $400 back. I keep asking him to make another payment per our agreed upon schedule, but at this point he is so late on his payments that I have basically given up hope of ever getting my money back. I also tried contacting Zelle to get me my money back, but they said that they can't help me as Zelle is more or less like cash. At the end of the day, what he did was basically theft and totally unacceptable. I highly recommend thinking twice before giving him a down payment. If you do decide to, at least don't do it via Zelle.

The job turned out to be more complicated having to go through a stud and across rafters. He did an expert job with the hole repair patching and painting that I cannot tell where he opened the holes to pull the cable. He's clearly an expert in low voltage and how to work around obstacles that others would run away in fear. Highly recommend him for quality work at a fair price.

Jay has fixed our exterior doors that weren't contacting our weather stripping and sealing properly, as well as adjusting and (where necessary) replacing the interior doors that were poorly hung by the previous owner. He fixed our custom-built pantry shelves, in addition to adding another shelf, replaced baseboards, fixed an accent wall, added shelving to our laundry room, and installed overhead garage storage for us. The best thing about working with Jay, was that he had good input for us in helping to figure out what we wanted to do with our laundry room and to fix the broken design on our accent wall. When he was trying to figure out where to hang our clothes rack in the laundry room, he had the foresight to measure my arms to get a good sense of where to hang the rack since my wife wasn't around to say exactly how high she wanted it installed. Jay is super nice, reliable, and JSC's prices are reasonable. I highly recommend them for any handyman services you might need around the house.

UPDATE: Originally,…read moreI was very unhappy with the job that Fillo did on our basement bathroom remodel and my initial review expressed my frustration about them hiring subpar workers who did subpar work in kind. After I posted my review, a manager reached out to see if they could send a different crew to assess the situation and come up with a solution for our concerns. My husband was reluctant to allow them because they had done such a poor job in the first place and he worried they would only make things worse. My in-laws were the only ones using that shower and after just a few months, the situation had become untenable for them because of water pooling problems and then the grout started washing away. This was on a new shower build that was not even 5 months old. My mother-in-law was struggling and it was really frustrating to see that after we had spent so much to give them a great new shower for their space, so I decided to reach out to Fillo to see if their offer to address our concerns still stood. Diana called me back right away and we coordinated a day and time for a new project manager and tile worker to come out. The new project manager, Marcello, was a massive improvement from Joe, our previous project manager in that he wasn't trying to gloss over the glaring problems with the shower build. He acknowledged that the work had not been done correctly and that the only way to properly fix it was to remove the shower floor completely and start it from scratch to ensure proper drainage. He would also re-grout the tiles. The new tile worker started and completed the fix in just two days and did a much better job than the original guy. It was obvious that this one takes pride in his work and wants to make sure that things are done well. My in-laws now have a properly functioning new shower and are relieved that their bathroom can once again be a place of tranquility rather than stress. I have to commend Fillo for excellent customer service because I don't think many companies would be willing to go the extra mile to make things right for an unhappy customer after they had already been paid. In my experience, the only way to get a contractor to fix a wrong after payment is to sue them, but Fillo did not allow things to escalate like that. They went out of their way and incurred additional expenses to address and resolve our concerns with their work, which my family and I certainly appreciate. I had originally decided that Fillo would not be getting any more of my business but after the way they handled themselves with the shower fiasco, I have renewed faith that they are a reputable company that is worth doing business with. When I am ready to paint my house or do additional work that requires a conractor, they will be at the top of my go-to list because I am confident that they will stand by their work and make sure their customers are happy with the result. That is a rare find with contractors these days and so for that reason, I highly recommend Fillo Painting & Exteriors for any of your home renovation needs.
