A friend recommended Mike Carter's Painting to paint my house. They done an excellent job and were very reasonable for the quality of their work. Donna was prompt to give me an estimate and very helpful choosing the color for my house and any questions I may have. Mike and Josh were always on time or early and did an excellent job pressure washing, fixing wood rot, and painting my house. Their attention to detail and quality of work are second to none. I hired Mike and Donna to paint the exterior of my house. They did an awesome job! They were so patient with me in trying to decide on a color. They did such a great job on the pressure washing that my gutters looked like new. They showed up as scheduled and and did a great clean up. They were so helpful and even installed my new rain barrels when they went to put the downspouts back up. My house now looks wonderful and I owe it all to them. This is the second time we have hired Mike and Donna's company to do work on our house. This house painting experience blew me away! They were always on time (usually early), checked in with me frequently to make sure everything was looking the way I wanted it to, and did a beautiful job with the house painting. You can see the before and after pics here - we went from a cream color house to a light gray with white trim and a coral colored door. Mike even suggested staining our front porch a pewter gray, and it really made the rest of the house pop. Mike painted our entire house on the inside. Additionally, Donna patiently provided expert advice on colors and design ideas. This was a complicated job and we were so grateful for their efforts, timeliness and willingness to do the best job, not simply finish the job. Doors, trim, ceilings, and walls! I don't think we'll have to paint again anytime soon (unless we move). Speaking of that, we thought about moving recently and asked Mike and Donna for a consultation. They were professional as always, offered creative ideas, and a competitive quote. If we had moved we would have asked them to do the work. It is difficult for me to write this review as my experience with Donna Carter turned sour after some months. Here is why the 1 star review is being submitted. After searching on Yelp for quality painters I sent a quote request to Mike Carter Painting and Donna responded quickly to set up a time to chat. We did and it was wonderful. She seemed very nice and customer focused and assured me that they were professionals, and all would be great. Based on the reviews I was inclined to believe that this would be a good experience. For the most part it was, there were some issues with getting details about what we had to do prior to their arrival as we were replacing some siding, facia, soffit and windows. She got defensive when my family called as she didn't know who they were even though I texted her that my local family would be in contact to set up a time to meet and discuss the project. After that was worked out with my family and Donna, we continued to set up paint samples etc as requested by Donna, who was very generous in giving us discounts and her paint supplier so we could get the color pattern correct. LOVELY!! Really feeling good about this project at this point. She even gave us an extra color at no charge!! Awesome!! We finally get to signing the contract and I submit my color choices and which area of the house would be which color. She replied with "everything looks good, we can schedule you for December." We set a date. She calls a couple weeks later and states she had a reschedule for another account and she could start our project earlier. GREAT!! We set a date. This is where the problem fell apart quickly. She texts me AFTER they power wash and states that the facia and soffit must be the same color or they will have to charge me more than what is contracted. The details of the areas and colors are on the signed contract. I told her that this was what I was worried about with all of our previous conversations about "we are professionals, you don't need to worry about anything. It will be beautiful." Etc. Furthermore, I told her that this was not acceptable, and she cannot change the price after they have started the prep work. She stated that they would not do the job and they left the property. Then she was trying to charge me for the power washing, and I disputed the charges for the deposit I placed with them and won that case, obviously they didn't do the contracted job. After she is notified that my account will be credited, she texts me that "I will be placing a lien on your house for the full amount." What?!! Needless to say, I did not respond. This final experience was severely unprofessional, and her comments were unprofessional as well. This is no way to do business and I am not sure why she tried to change the price after months of planning. Obviously, this put our project further behind as we have to search for another painter, and it will take time. I would use extreme caution when dealing with Donna and she can turn on a dime if something doesn't go her way. She does not put the customer's interests or concerns at the front of her mind when responding or answering common questions about painting and the process from nonprofessional painters, like her customers are. If any potential customers need further clarification, I would be happy to elaborate. After I proved my case with the bank and she had to give me my refund she threatened to have a lien put on my home. I guess we will see what happens, another example of unprofessional conduct unfortunately. Maybe the project was too much for them? I wish them luck in the future and they have had some good reviews. Made 2 appointments to put in a bid and cancelled both the morning of the appointments. Full of excuses. Gave the relative in the hospital excuse. Mike Carter's Painting painted our house and did a fantastic job at a very reasonable rate. From the time Donna came to the house to provide an estimate until the job was complete on the final day, everyone who worked on our house was friendly, professional, and respectful. They arrived on time (or a bit early) each day and worked hard to get the job done right. They pressure washed the house, repaired some wood rot, prepped the house, and then performed a great paint job like experts should. When I walked around to check their work after they finished, there were almost no spots that needed to be fixed or touched up, but they were happy to touch up the 1-2 tiny little spots where I was being picky. Their attention to detail and thorough work translates into a beautiful paint job that makes me proud of how my house looks now. Great small business! I decided to take out a wall 4 days before the in-laws came to visit...half way through the project, I realized I was not the best solution for that project. So I called Mike and Donna. They started the job 2 days after I called for an estimate and worked through the weekend removing walls and patching the ceiling drywall. Not only did they do a great job, work with my crazy deadline expectations, clean up after themselves, but they also had surprisingly reasonable prices for such quality work. read more

Mike and Donna are awesome! Very fair and honest. They were able to complete our job over a week earlier than expected, helping us get in our house sooner.
