Because he had photographed at the venue before, Jonathan was really helpful when we were making certain wedding day decisions and was very accessible by email to answer questions. We appreciated his lean toward documentary style photography, so there wasn't a lot of awkward posing for a million different portraits. He got some great candid shots of us and our family and friends, as well as plenty of portraits in awesome locations (which he had staked out on previous trips to the islands). We also immediately felt comfortable with him. He fit right in with our wedding guests, and could easily have been a friend of ours. He was there for all of the important moments, but it never felt like his taking pictures was getting in the way. We thought his pricing was super reasonable, especially considering the quality of his work. I would recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone (including same sex couples like us) getting married in the Seattle area.

We ended up in a pricing dispute and he was completely unreasonable. During the final print ordering session there was no price list, no bill of sale, no computer that adds up the order. Instead he used a pocket calculator. As he added the numbers, I remember thinking, "Gee I hope I can afford this. But if it's too much, I'll just choose fewer prints." He said, verbally, "After your $300 credit from the charity auction, the total is Twenty Three Seventeen." I thought, "Great, That's affordable!". I was offered no receipt, no bill of sale, no invoice, and I never ever saw a price list. He said delivery would be in about 3 WEEKS. 3 HOURS later I noticed the $2317.00 charge on my credit card bill (not $23.17) and called him to say that there was a misunderstanding and we needed to redo the print order. At that moment we saw a different side of Rosenberg. He acknowledged that I was never offered a receipt/invoice, but he refused to make any changes. He claimed that we talked about price on the phone seven months earlier (we hadn't), there was a price list in the letter he mailed me six months earlier (there wasn't) and that I should have known what his work was worth (I didn't). The usual offer / counter-offer occured to attempt to resolve the dispute, but he was never much interested in negotiation. Fast forward to when I went to pick up my prints and receive my refund, they were unable to give me a receipt for the credit card refund. I was just supposed to trust that the refund was processed correctly. I've accepted that I've been had, and I've moved on. I'm not the first one to report something like this. If you work with him, always ask for a price list and demand a receipt, even if it is handwritten.

The product was OK, but nothing distinguishing from other studios (i.e. no unique poses,…read moreconfigurations, props, approach or format). Most frustrating was that Michael mislead us. We spent well over $6k in photographs, it took him 6 weeks to produce the product and then he tried to charge us for shipping (we live overseas). This is something we had discussed and he conveniently forgot. The money was trivial ($20)0 given what we had already spent, but his follow-up and approach to resolution was clearly that of someone that felt they already had our money and the product. Very disappointing, there are equivalent studios with much better business sense and customer acumen. I would avoid Michael and the studio.

He responded promptly to my calls, texts and emails, met with us the evening prior to the wedding to tour the venue and discuss where we would like to do our outside shoots, and asked us to put together a shot list for the wedding party afterwards, as parties can waste a lot of time trying to decide who is in shots. We shot at Anchor Park, Hamilton Viewpoint and the West Seattle Library before heading downtown to shoot at the Pike Place Market and Starbucks. We were going to shoot at the Market after the wedding, but things went so smoothly we had time in the morning. Jeremy was unobtrusive yet got us to feel very comfortable in front of his camera. He had helpful suggestions and his timing was great. He didn't have to use a flash for our wedding, which was in a well-lit living room. It helped that it was a cloudy day to diffuse the sunlight and there are lots of windows in the house. Jeremy got us our edited digital files quickly, and they were astounding. We are so happy with the quality of his work, and he is reasonably priced.

However, I received no compensation or discount for it, I don't expect to be doing business with them soon that would get me that discount, and I stand by it as true and genuine.] I was in charge of finding the photographer, and my wife was really angry about me wanting her to meet "just one more" -- until she actually met Dan DeLong and saw his work. We knew he was what we were looking for, and they were competitively priced compared to other shops out there (especially once you factored in the skill). Dan photographed our entire day, from getting ready at the hotel, to a wedding on the water in September sunshine, to wandering through the galleries of a local museum. We just did our album (finally!) in 2011, and every time we look at these photos, it almost makes us cry. He perfectly captured the excitement, the romance, the playfulness of our friends' children and the settings, and all the emotion we wish we could bottle from the most perfect day of our lives together. I loved the PI and miss it, but the one good thing about its demise is that it created RedBox. These guys have spent years practicing their craft and learning to capture fleeting moments that tell a story, and we would recommend them to anyone.

We really wanted a photojournalist to capture the candid moments of our day, and we got exactly what we were looking for. (Dan is a former photographer with the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. So are the other three who work at Red Box Pictures). I can't tell you how much fun it was to get the pictures back and see all the little things we missed during that blur-of-the-day. Dan came to the resort to photograph me and my girls as we got ready, and somehow managed to get back to the wedding site to get my husband getting ready as well. He didn't miss any detail throughout the day and night. He was also very personable, easy to work with and spent a good deal of time consulting with us about what we wanted. He even helped us sort out the timing of events so we'd get the best light and best photographs in the outdoors (we got married with the North Cascades in the background).
