A long time (2009), in a galaxy far far away (Spain), I ate plate after plate of Padron peppers and wondered at these marvels the likes of which I'd never tried before but would never forget. No, my friends, I would never forget.
Cut to 2014. I'd since learned Padron peppers are seasonal, like the mango, my other favourite summer food, and apart from a few experiences at restaurants my Padron cravings remained largely unfulfilled. Until Richard at Midyim Eco came along. I registered my interest on his website, and at the start of December received an email alert - padrons (and 11 other varieties of peppers) now in stock. I ordered that day.
A kilo (a box of around 120 peppers / $32.50) arrived the next day, and I fried up a batch in olive oil til they were blistered, sprinkled them with rock salt, and went to toooooown, son. If you buy make sure you pay your invoice on time because they're a small company and ain't nobody got time to be chasing debtors. read more
