I had a sesamoidectomy (removal of a sesamoid bone) done by Dr. Kazmer in June of 2020. I chose him…read moreto perform the surgery because he was very confident in the success of the surgery while others doctors I went to were not. He had a lot of experience and clearly knew his stuff. While he can come off as a bit cocky, I prefer this demeanor from a surgeon. This shows me that they don't accept a failure or mistakes. My surgery went well and recovery wasn't too bad either. For anyone else with sesamoid problems, I highly suggest seeing Dr. Kazmer for such a complex issue. Don't let those other doctors put off your pain too long- as it will only get worse and affect other parts of your foot overtime! Thank you Dr. Kazmer for allowing me to be active again!!

The nurses are great as well. The front desk staff of the office could use some attitude adjustments. They aren't so welcoming. It doesn't change how I feel about the doc. I'm still trust him with my family's foot care. One other piece of feedback, when making shoe recommendations, it would be good to have models or a list of shoe types that are preferred.

I saw Dr. Berkson 5 years ago after a knee/femur injury that required surgery. Afterwards I spent 4…read moremonths doing physical therapy. My knee isn't perfect and I'm not sure if that's due to the surgery, the length of physical therapy or need to continue to build muscle. Though Dr. Berkson's bedside manner is atrocious (dry, monotone & condescending), I thought he got the job done with regards to me knee; so when my 9 year old son began to regularly roll his ankle I thought he would be the right doctor to see (and also the only one I know of). My son first rolled his ankle a couple years ago, and did so a handful of times thereafter. Last month he rolled it again and couldn't bear weight for a several days. Since then he has rolled it more times than I can count; each time eliciting pain and tears. I brought my son to see Dr. Berkson yesterday. Tony took down all the information (he was great). Fran did the X-rays (sweet, peppy and kind); she made my son feel comfortable. Then Dr. Berkson strolls in...and therein lies the end of our positive experience. Dr. Berkson spent more time discussing my son's wet swim shorts than he did discussing his ankle. He had him walk down the hall normally, on his tip toes and on his heels. He also checked to see if my son could push back using his big toe while Dr. Berkson exerted force. He said nothing is wrong with him besides having flat feet, and there is nothing that can be done about it, though it's not the cause for him rolling his ankle anyway. I asked at what point I begin to worry about permanent tendon and/or ligament damage? What can we do to prevent this from happening? Why is it happening? I'm met with a very curt: NOTHING IS WRONG WITH HIM. Or, I CAN'T TELL YOU THAT. Very rude and belittling. Clearly I was there to have a professional assess the situation, however Dr. Berkson could only see in black-and-white. There IS a reason my son continues to roll his ankle. Maybe it's lack of support in his shoes? Dr. Berkson didn't check his shoes, nor did he ask about what type of shoes he wears. Maybe it's the structure of his legs? He's pigeon-toed. Maybe it's because he's growing and his feet aren't in proportion to the rest of his body? Dr. Berkson offered up NO explanation; he didn't even try. Every time I asked a question I was met with: I CAN'T TELL YOU THAT. I'm not even kidding here, literally: EVERY TIME. It may not be important to Dr. Berkson to determine why this continues to happen, but as a parent who is concerned about her son living with weak ankles/tendons/ligaments, it IS important. As someone who went through an injury and now overcompensates using other parts of my body, it IS important. My gait is off because of my knee injury and therefore other areas of my body hurt/ache. I'm more susceptible to injury in other areas because of this. I don't want that to be something my son has to deal with, and at this point it is still avoidable...with a little guidance and advice from an expert. I also asked Dr. Berkson about my knee and the above. I asked if he thinks it's due, in part, to building muscle; if there are exercises I can do. And, what do you know: I CAN'T TELL YOU THAT. I got the feeling he was genuinely IRRITATED by my need to want to make things better for my son and me. The visit was a COMPLETE waste of time. Co-pay paid. Deductible not met so their office will send who knows how many hundreds of dollars back my way for the visit and the X-rays. Basically I paid to have to someone tell me that he CAN'T TELL ME ANYTHING and belittle me. Get referrals from friends or family, consult Yelp...but save your money and don't go here.
