Dr. V neutered my dog. A week later, my dog was swollen, in pain, crying. I called the emergency…read morenumber on my receipt. I got a text back, saying to take my dog to the emergency pet clinic two hours away. I drove there, spent 5 in Pet ER, spent over $1,000. They told me to return to Dr. VanDerPleog for surgery. they said it was an emergency and to show up first thing in the morning. I did what they said. When I showed up, staff was wonderful. But, Dr. V was angry that I would not wait until the afternoon. In fear of my dog's safety, trying to follow ER clinic's directions, and because I live an hour away, I said, I would wait until he had time to see my dog. I called three veterinary hospitals while waiting. No one had space to fit my dog in. When Dr. V came into my waiting room, he was mad at me, took one look at my dog and told me to go home. He said it would go away on its own. Had I known that, I would never have brought him in. explained that the clinic said to bring him in and then it was an emergency. He then angrily told me to pay an emergency amount as if a punishment to me. Of course I paid. I wish he would have taken responsibility for the complications from his surgery. And, he needs to realize that customers don't know what to do. I did everything he asked me to do. And, I followed what the ER clinic told me to do. To have Dr. V treat me so rudely and not show concern for my dog was terribly disappointing. I'm sharing this review so others are aware that he will not take care of you if there are complications from his actions.

Very disappointed with this vet. We had an emergency last Friday (July 28, 2023) with our cat. Went…read moreto the center and there was no vet even though it was a working day. We were told by staff that doctor could see our pet on Monday and that if we couldn't wait we would have to take him somewhere else. Today we called because we need our pet's vaccination record, which vet who treated the emergency is requiring. We tried pulling it online but it is not up to date. We have only taken our cat to this vet 3 times. Twice for vaccines and once for neutering. He is only 2 years old. So really it isn't like they have to dig through old files. Staff suggested we could see what vaccines he has had through our invoices. Still we went to pick up invoices offered by them and the only information we received was of the vaccines given this year in April. They really don't keep records because we were called in July stating our pet needed his yearly shots. We had to remind them that he had been vaccinated in April. We have more info than they do. I would think that a vet should have his patients records up to date and ready to print if the customer needs them for any reason (e.g.: travel, etc.) So our suggestion is that you keep your invoices in a safe place because that's the only proof you will have of keeping your pet up to date with required shots or go to a more organized veterinary center.
