I popped in here to escape the rain during a day trip to Cork. They had free wifi and it was warm…read moreand sheltered so it was the perfect place to hide out. They don't have a public restroom which was a shame, but otherwise this is the perfect place to burn some time. I sat down and connected to the internet and listened to an audiobook for a while. It was a lovely little place to take a rest.

I am so happy that I did, I have been requesting books that I have been wanting to read for a while now, the service is great and I am really looking forward to using it more

It's a small library but handy for the odd book. They take in donations of books which I prefer…read moredoing than giving them to the book market. They have friendly staff that are always willing to help and order in anything that you might want to read. They also have art exhibits every now and again.

My friend and I had a really fun time exploring this campus. We went there on Sunday, so…read moreunfortunately, most of the campus was closed, but not the stone corridors! These corridors features ancient tombstone dating back to the 2nd century A.D. Also, make sure to stop by the IRA Volunteers Memorial at the part of campus that used to be the old Cork Gaol. The most fun we had was sneaking into open classrooms and conference rooms. Our favorite was a large conference room filled wall-to-wall with encyclopedias. Yeah, I suppose the intended goal of those open doors wasn't so two yanks could sneak around historic buildings and breathtaking conference rooms, but well, it was certainly the outcome. UCC was easily the best campus we visited in Ireland.

FRANK O'CONNOR LIBRARY 01.10.10 Fair play to the management…read moreof the Frank O'Connor City Library in Mayfield: they always seem willing to give an artist an chance. Called in there the other day and found a solo by young Silverheights artist Keith Wright and an exhibition by a local amateur group. Some of the ladies in the amateur group were taken with the quality of Wright's work. He had just a handful of paintings on display and most recreated actual moments from the history of the Second World War. His captions showed that quite a lot of research had gone into the scheme as, in the case of fighter planes (one shown strafing a Normandy beach), the type of plane and the pilot's name were mentioned. There is a limited market obviously for this type of painting, though his prices (€200-300) were reasonable but, if the local ladies are right, Keith is on the way up and will be breaking the limits in the future. I am a regular visitor to the Frank O'Connor Library. It is a fantastic facility, supplying not only books but also films and music on videos, DVD and CD. The staff are extremely helpful and there is even a home delivery service for those who are ill. You can also help yourself by going online where you may order or renew your books etc. It also hosts special events and all during September - every Wednesday - the spotlight is on the famous Frank O'Connor, after whom the library is named. A terrific and friendly service at a very reasonable cost
