The Middlecoff Dental Group is the most professional dental office I have used over the years. The entire staff is diligent in seeing that my care is the best, and more importantly to me, the facility is immaculate. I have had my teeth cleaned by several of the hygienists, and I have always been very satisfied. Dr. Will and Dr. Katie have always performed their procedures with expertise. My dentist retired. I found myself with a broken tooth. It was hurting really bad. I got on Facebook and asked for recommendations for a good dentist that could extract a tooth. Middlecoff Dental Group was the first recommendation I received. I called them yesterday and they were able to schedule an appointment for today. That was amazing for me because places I had called were going to take over a week. An exposed root in a tooth is very painful and can't wait over a week. I consider it a dental emergency. Today I went into Middlecoff Dental Group for my extraction. I'm early everywhere I go. I filled out the paperwork and very shortly after I was called to the back. I loved that there wasn't a long wait and I was probably taken back at my appointment time. The dental assistant was very nice and polite and professional. She asked necessary questions and spoke with me about the gentleness of the Dr to ease my nerves. She explained the aftercare instructions to me. After my procedure was done she gave me a little baggie with gauze and a little paper with the aftercare instructions printed on it. Dr. Will Middlecoff is the dentist that I had the pleasure of having extract my tooth. He was very kind and explained to me exactly what he would be doing. He used a lot of local anesthetic to deaden my mouth. (I'm typing this about 5 hours after being given the anesthetic and my mouth is still numb. It's just starting wear off.). He really doesn't want his patients to experience pain and does a very thorough job to ensure comfort. He was very careful when extracting my tooth. He didn't damage the crown next to it and he didn't have to cut the bad tooth out. I feel he was very knowledgeable and confident in his skill. He asked beforehand about medications so that he was able to prescribe antibiotics and pain medication that I have had in the past and know I don't have allergies to. I'm especially thankful for the antibiotics because I fear getting infections. I have had bad experiences with dentists in the past but this was definitely a great experience. I can't stress enough the kindness and professionalism I experienced today at Middlecoff Dental Group. I will definitely go back and would be happy to take my children there. My Family has been with this dental group for about 10 years. The last visit we had around April 2022, we did not know or were made aware of that this group had dropped our insurance (METLife Dental). They went on and conducted the services knowing well that they had dropped the coverage and all charges incurred would be our responsibility. When pressed why this happened it was brought to our attention that the payments provided by my insurance were not enough. The group they were with had sold out and instead of moving over and continuing the coverage this group decided to just stop taking the insurance. In fact I was advised that they were only going to take all but high dollar insurance (which I had never heard of.) This is not good business practice. I delayed this review because I wanted to see if anyone else had the same problem and it appears so other than they advise now so people can at least find another dental group that accepts their insurance. And for what it is worth My dental insurance was with FEDVIP ( Federal Employees Dental Vision Insurance Program) USAF Retired. The care was and is still probably the best I have had. They are caring dental providers while providing dental service, however it seem money has become a driving factor. As a patient, one would appreciate at least a heads up on this. They did drop any costs my Insurance did not pay as they knew this was wrong. They now have a website where you can buy a program through them for some programs. but I bet that the costs are far more than insurance would pay. The reason we purchase insurance is to keep costs down and these providers accept this. If providers care only about money and other services such as Botox treatments I wonder if dental services will fall in time. If you go with this group make darn sure you know from them what insurance they do accept and that additional costs will not be passed on to you. (some providers will try to sneak this on a separate bill.) And make sure any overage you pay is refunded to you and not kept as a family account. This I found out happened to myself and my wife. As we overpaid our deductible for some crowns. This hurt very bad as this dental group is very good. It seems the pandemic has caused some of this as the patient load has decreased.
