Although there's a bit more light in between the stacks than there used to be, and I was sad to see the gigantic fountain go away (issues with leaks, I discovered), this is still my favorite branch in the area. I particularly like the audio titles, as they make a long drive seem shorter. You can also book a spot upstairs to hold a private meeting or use a computer. So many of our privately owned bookstores are struggling right now, so we all need to reach out and give them as much support as we possibly can. EyeSeeMe, fortunately has a special niche in the market. It has an extensive inventory of books written for and supporting the children of our African American community. Through their success, they now provide and offer books for high school student and adults as well. Today, I attended a virtual book reading co-sponsored by EyeSeeMe and was totally inspired. Before attending the event I shopped the store and picked up a couple of the books being read. Now that the event is over, I cannot wait to give them to a co-workers son. In fact, in the future, I will be doing a lot of gift shopping here for those hard to buy for friends on my list. It will be easy to find something for them here and it will be inspiring. I cannot encourage you enough, please shop local and please support black owned businesses, too. It makes our community stronger. When: February 20, 2021 Why: Virtual Book Reading Event
