This is a lovely campus in the middle of Saint Charles County. There is plenty of parking and it's easy to walk from building to building. This appears to be a fairly safe campus. I worked in the event at the community college. It was a great college and we worked in the gymnasium was very clean. The organizer was very great to work with great communication. I think this would be great for other vendors shows as well. There is a ton of space, a ton of lighting, a ton of natural lighting and a large square footage area. read more

Great for events and I even went to school here. Big campus to do our annual Alzheimer's walk. It's so moving coming to this every year and so many free stuff. This is my last semester at SCC and I am sad to go! I have made many valuable friendships at this school but you have to put yourself out there! Every professor I have had has made me feel like they actually want me to succeed and have helped me get to where I want to be in that class. If you're looking to get your associate's degree fast and cheap, SCC is definitely the way to go. I do not recommend taking online courses though because it's all busy work that the professors often recycle from years prior. There is also very minimal effort from professors in most online courses. In-person lectures are a way better use of time. read more

I applied to Yale but they were too expensive, so I chose SCC. (lol) Most people I've met here chose SCC for a few reasons: they didn't want to pay for/couldn't afford a big university, they wanted to stay close to home/live at home, they didn't care about college much and wanted a free degree, they wanted to kill some time after high school, they wanted their parents to get off their back. If that sounds like you, look no further. If you're in high school and you know you want college education, do yourself a favor and take advantage of A+. You can always choose not to use it. You should not pay a dime to the college system if you don't have to. My associate degree here was about $10,000. I wouldn't have done it if financial aid didn't pay for it. If you plan on a four year degree, do your due diligence and research available scholarships/awards. Having an associate degree or any previous college credit will make you ineligible for some scholarships at bigger schools that require you to spend all four years there. The library is great, the advising office can be hit or miss, many teachers are working professionals in the community, and many students are here just to get in and get out. Generally the education seemed unbiased (not super 'woke'). Getting responses from the financial aid/admissions office can be pretty slow. Their biggest challenge is with student engagement. However, if you choose to dive in you'll be rewarded here. read more

Overall, I enjoyed the college. There's something here for everyone. The classes are excellent and the school offers a lot of extra activities to get involved in. All of my professors have been helpful. I've learned a lot during my time here. My only gripe is that Academic Advising is staffed by idiots who misguided me every time I went. I really had to take control of my own scheduling, instead of relying on them for "help." Other than that, I think that St. Charles Community College is a worth-while investment of your time. I was saddened that St. Charles Community College ended the Human Services program for potential social workers and helping professionals. The Human Services professor, Sylvia Bane-Malta, was an excellent mentor for students in training for the helping professions. Social services are urgently needed in our 21st-century society, and Bane-Malta taught her students to think critically and compassionately in the academic program. I am questioning the mission and vision of St. Charles Community College as it lacks involvement in helping to prepare professionals in the helping fields. The loss of the Human Services program and Professor Bane-Malta weakened St. Charles Community College's role in preparing students for service to their society. If you are interested in Human Services, please avoid St. Charles Community College until the powers that be recognize their loss in this program and professor and reinstate their Human Services Program. read more

I am an online student and I love how organized the classes are and the instructors although not all most are very supportive and helpful. The instructors do their best to answer your question and help you understand the class. I have taken an online class from a different school before and they are not as organized, which led to a very stressful semester. I definitely enjoy being a student at SCC. I love attending the events that they have on campus. The school also offers handshake which match your skills and field of study to companies who are hiring for the position that fits your skills and criteria. I ended up taking 3 online classes at St. Charles Community College in spring 2019. Two classes were the full semester and one class was only the second half of the semester. All three professors were accessible by email and for questions. In class #1 there was absolutely no discussion boards and no personal comments from the professor during the entire semester. The grade was based on nothing but computer graded multiple choice tests and 1 very long paper due at the end of the semester. In class #2 there was a combination of the computer graded multiple choice quizzes and tests, weekly discussion boards, and 2 writing assignments. The professor did not participate in the weekly discussion so you never knew if your answers were correct but she left some extremely minimal comments on the two writing assignments. Class #3, the half semester class, was interesting. The grade was based mostly on the computer graded tests and quizzes but there were also some activities where you watched or read something and then answered questions on that. This professor was extremely active on the weekly discussion boards and gave strong opinions about whether your opinions were on the right track. She also left personal comments on the discussion boards for each student. Her involvement went above and beyond. The administrative staff at St. Charles was relatively easy to deal with. I would recommend this school even if you are outside of St. Charles County which I am. Also, the online platform they use for teaching (Canvas) is superior to St. Louis Community College. read more

Recently at Age 41 I decided to go back to school and finish my degree. It had been over 15 yeard since i had done any type of schooling. The staff at St Charles Community college was amazingly supportive. They helped me transfer my previous credits and set me on a road map to finish my degree. Given my full time empoynment and family comitments, I decided to take online classes for the first time ever and was at first a bit worried about adapting, but the online classes at STCCC were very userfriendly and easy to manage. I would not recommend St. Charles Community College to anyone. From start to finish we had nothing but problems with the financial department and administration. My son was denied his A+ due to their lack of either communication, or just flat out not doing their jobs. We scanned and rescanned documents, took them to the people who said we have it and your good, just to find out that they didn't process them and he wouldn't get A+. My son was on the Deans List every semester, he is very responsible, and we did everything asked of us. I work with A+ students, I will never refer any of them to this college. I will add that I have four students that attended college, we did not have this issue with any other college. read more

Ive done two semesters at SCC with a break between each. I will say I enjoy my classes and the teachers are very helpful. The staff does their best to assist you in anyway they can online before having to go to campus. However I have been struggling with the financial aid office for months. Im about to start my third semester here and still havent gotten any word back from the school about this issue. When I had attended my first semester it was several years ago and never faced these problems, however this year specifically its difficult to find any asssistance online or over the phone. This is really difficult to deal with if you dont live near the campus. Other than the financial aid issues enrollment was very easy and setting up classes is pretty simple. read more

What a useless staff in admissions. Went there 2 weeks ago and the lady in admissions that is a frustrated hippie was about as snotty and rude as can be. I was to the point of wondering WHO is in charge of staff. She needs to get fired as poor as she is and replaced with someone who wants and values a job. It requires not much more skill than asking if I want to supersize my McD's order and at least at McD's they are polite and have manners! It is a wonder no one has yelled at her with attitude! But maybe someone has and it just has not sunk in through her rock thick skull. What a waste of oxygen she is. I saw her and others in the admissions office act as if the students were a hinderance instead of the exact reason the staff HAS jobs!
